Question/Comment:
I take Darvocet only as needed for my back pain. I do not take it on a regular basis.
I often wake with back pain and its hard to move around for awhile. Usually I can take a darvocet and it stops the pain, but as I said I do not take it every day....

Answer/Reply:
I have been taking Darvacet 500 mg for over 3 yrs. for severe migraines, neck, shoulder & back pain. My neurologist limits me to a max. of 4 tablets a day, 2 days a wk. This works great for reducing & ofeten eliminating my pain. According to my doctor, no one should take more than the maximum he allows.

Question/Comment:
I take Wygesic for my lower back pain, when the back is bad it really does nothing to stop the pain, I need to take it when the pain is first starting to get the benefit of the drug. I like wygesic for the fact it does not make me drowsy or like I am high feeling. When it is working for me I can do almost anything without the tired feeling. I have been on wygesic for a number of years and find it works the best for me. Other drugs make me feel very drained and lacking any motivation to do even simple tasks.

Question/Comment:
I take Darvocet for Severe back pain and it gets rid of the pain for me but it takes two of them to do it. Instead of being drowsy it makes me feel like I am wired up I guess that is what you would call it. I am wide awake when I take it so I cant take it at night.

Answer/Reply:
I have been taking Darvocet for the past 2 months and I have been experiencing anxiety and also more recently depressed moods. I did not know if this was a side effect of the medication or not as I normally am not like this. It also makes me feel very nervous after taking it. Is this normal?

Question/Comment:
I am taking Darvocet for digenerative spinal disease. The pain is excruciating and the Darvocet takes the edge off but not the complete pain. I try not to take it daily as it is said to be highly addictive. Anyone with an addictive behavior should take very close caution about when to take.

Question/Comment:
I use Darvocet to cut down on using stronger pain medication if possible for my chronic condition. It isn't effective for bad pain, but it works quite well when tylenol alone wouldn't be enough.

Does prolong use of Darvocet cause stomach burning? I was also informed recently that Darvocet can contribute to depression.

Question/Comment:
It is one of the milder pain relievers w/o codeine and fewer side effects. I like that it is safe to take a 2nd pill to relieve higher levels of pain. There doesn't seem to be high risk of becoming addicted to it like other stronger meds.

Question/Comment:
I have seen family members become very dependent on Darvocet. This makes me extremely careful about taking it. I may take eight or ten a MONTH, so I only use it when pain is interfering with life. (I have a family care home for handicapped adults so I have to be active even when I don't feel like it.) I don't think a doctor can be too careful in making sure what kind of person he is prescribing for. And patients need to be aware that the potential for addiction is very real. I like this medication because it does not make me sleepy, and that is very important to me. I understand that it doesn't have the same effect with everyone, so I am stating this as a blanket benefit, but it certainly contributes to my satisfaction.
