I have been on this medication for about 6 months now. I have had noticable rashes on my arms where I have worn the patches. The persist for weeks after removal. Otherwise, it has had the desired effect of lowering my blood pressure due to pain.

Question/Comment:

Clonidine is a very effective and fast acting medication. You should monitor your BP prior to taking the medication for at least a week to ensure that you do not cause your BP to drop too low. Your Doc can advise you as to the range you BP should be in. My doctor(s) (4) all told me at .01mg I should NEVER under any circumstances take more than 4 doses in a 24 hr period and NEVER closer than 3 hours apart. This is for SAFETY REASONS!

Member Answer/Reply:

After an auto accident with only severe whip lash injury my high blood pressure became worse and without warning rose to very high readings.Several medications were added and none helped .Only clonidine 0.1 mg brought it down to normal levels. So it was given 3times a day in small doses with good effect and I continued it for 1 year. If my doctor agrees I want to stop it under her supervision

Question/Comment:

My 54 year old husband has been taking Clonidine for hypertension for some time now and we have recently noticed the oddest apparent side-effect. His body odor has become significantly more pungent, smelling like cumin, or Mexican spice... rather musky and sharp. This has not been an issue for him in the past. He has begun trying different deoderants to determine whether it is something else, but so far nothing has changed. Is this common?

Question/Comment:

I also take clonidine and it does make me more aggressive ,i talked with my dr.and he put me on effexor . just be watchful and try to understand its not your daughter being aggressive but the clonidine .making her seem that way.I am
certain she is the same sweet baby as she always has been, maybe she should take it at night so while she is sleeping it will work those hours and not have the full dose in the morning good luck and gods speed.
