Question/Comment:
Valium can become addictive if you do not take it as prescribed. Otherwise, it is a wonder drug that works well, has minimal side effects and has been trusted for many years.

Question/Comment:
You may try many pain Meds. before you find the one that works for you. Sometimes the old drugs are as good or better than some of the new ones coming out. Talk to you Dr. if will find a way it takes time. Side effects for me have been none and I have use this for over 10 years.

Question/Comment:
Be sure that you have a Dr. of psychiatry prescribe the valium, that way you get all the emotioal help along with the medication. That's the only way to do it, I don't believe primary care Drs. should prescribe it without the input of a psychiatrist.

Question/Comment:
valium is is adeacontrolled drug, andfor goodreason. since i havebeen on valium for over 25 years,i have met some peoplewho have, when they discover i am on valium, have asked to let them have a pill or two. well, naturally,i never give them my valium and i stop seeing these people immediately! they are,in my popinion, dope feinds, and are not the kind of people i associatewith.you must be careful when you are given this medication because i have also met some people who were once medically given valium and when their dr's. took them off valium they were kind of addicted to it,i believe. they abused their valium and ended up a dope fiend.this will never happen to me.ty very much, sincerely, marilyn bauer

Answer/Reply:
Marilyn,
Valium is the least addictive of the benzodiazpines. Xanax, Ativan, and Klonipin are much more addictive. I doubt that someone who asked for one or two valium is a "dope fiend." More than likely they wanted to try the medicine, or wanted it to help them sleep or relax. That's what it is for. You were right to not give out your medication, but don't assume people are drug addicts.
