Lyrica is a lifesaver for me! Constant pain x/6 yrs and within 30 min my pain from bulging C5-6 discs was GONE completely. I'm so happy to be out of pain! Also eliminated nerve pain associated with breast reduction surgery (intense incisions that have taken 1.5 yrs to heal). Am on 150mg 2/day; also take Hydrocodone for breakthrough pain; down from 6/day to 1-2/day!

I don't know if this will be helpful to anyone else. I may just be sensitive to the medication. We decided to go from a little higher dose twice a day to a little lower dose 3 times a day. Have not started the new regimen yet as this medicine is EXPENSIVE and I had just refilled it before we discussed the changes.

Be careful when taking this drug with other medications. I have had to break down my dose and take 1/2 at 9pm and 1/2 at 10:30 pm because if I take together I can't stay awake. I also get very dizzy if I take the whole dose at the same time as my Avinza.

Question/Comment:
I am a 44 yr old woman. My doctor currently prescribed me Lyrica 50mg 3 x's day for nerve pain due to an automobile accident. I'm severely allergic to non steroidal anti-inflamatories. I have 2 bulging disc (possibly herniated) in my neck with nerve root irritation. Along with taking this medication I take Hydrocodon, & Somas, go to physical therapy 2x's week and the chiropractor 2x's week. I'm wondering when I'll see some results from the Lyrica? I was concerned with taking this medication due to having to take it for a period of time because of my job.

Answer/Reply:
You are on a really low dose of 50 mg and should probably be increased gradually to a greater dose. I take 150 mg twice a day for sciatica and think it helps but I still have side effects after 3 months such as dizziness, weight gain, urinary retention, and drowsiness. I would rather have symptoms than hurt. I still need Vicodin as Lyrica doesn't not always help that much. when I skip a dose I really hurt and it takes a while to build the blood level back up. Hope this helps.

Answer/Reply:
I'm wondering how you're doing with the Lyrica along with taking Vicodin and Soma. I was diagnosed with bulging discs in my neck and back along with Fibromyalgia at the age of 40. My doctor prescribed Lyrica 100 mg. daily approximately 1 week ago. I also take three 750 mg Vicodin and three 350 mg Soma daily in addition to other meds for other medical needs. The Lyrica seems to be working. I have noticed a decrease in the numbing, tingling and burning sensations in my right leg but have noticed an increase in lower back pain and an increased sensation of numbing and tingling in my left hand. Has anyone taking Lyrica experienced similar problems?.

Answer/Reply:
Yes. I started with 75 mg a day and worked up to 300 mg a day by adding a 75mg pill every 3 or 4 days. It made me very tired at first, but eventually that stopped. The only side effect I was left with after 4 months was severe constipation. It completel got rid of the burning/vibrating feeling in my leg from a pinched nerve in my L4 area. I quit cold turkey (by accident. I went on a business trip and ran out and kept thinking I would stop and have it refilled, but never did) and didn't have any problems. I'm thinking about going back on a low does combined with Cymbalta as I still have some pain in my leg that he cortison shots don't take care of. I just hope the constipation doesn't come back. I can't tolerate that!
