Question/Comment:

I noticed once I truly had the lexapro in my system, my heart would beat really hard, even if I was just sitting on the couch. Is this normal, I'm wondering if lexapro has been known to cause any kind of heart damage, it would make my heart beat alot harder to the point of where I was exhausted and even when I slept my heart would pound. any help or info is appreciated

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:

Less than 1% of patients reported heart palpitations in clinical trials with escitalopram, making it difficult to determine if this risk was any different from placebo. If it is a side-effect, it is likely that it is uncommon - although feedback from other users would be very helpful.

Question/Comment:

If I am on Lexapro can I take Hydroxycut weight loss helper?

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:

There is very little information available on the safety of hydroxycitrate (believed to be the active ingredient in Garcinia cambogia - the herbal extract in this supplement). If you do end up using these products together, please let us know your feedback.

Question/Comment:

I'm also on Alprazolam and I have an upper resp. infection. I'm on Bactrum and Promethazine/Codine. It always freaks me out to be on other meds while i'm on Lex & Alpraz. Anyone else worried about this??

Answer/Reply:

I'm on rebif, topamax, lexapro and advil so I always have to check for med reactions. I read the instructions of everything, search the internet and sometimes ask the pharmacist. That seems to help alot.

Hi there, I'm on Lexapro and Xanax as well. (also motrin and dr. is starting me on lyrica soon for nerve pain/issues), also on suboxone for treatment due to a "prior" opiate dependency which started due to a back injury and several disc bulging, herniation, etc..:) I'm only 34 and I'm a mess! But I have 2 young beautiful children so just trying to get better however is needed. I started taking the Lexapro about 3 months ago, I swear within a week I was feeling better and now A LOT better, I used to cry all the time, so depressed I couldn't get out of bed, suicidal, now I can't wait to get out of bed and start my day. I was also experiencing MAJOR anxiety attacks frequently. My dr. prescribed the Xanax at the same time she prescribed the Lexapro. I am to take the Xanax only as needed for anxiety ATTACKS, not general anxiety which I rarely have anymore as the Lexapro has seemed to be a miracle drug for me. I no longer have the attacks (in over 2 months) therefore not needing the Xanax, which is a good thing as I have a problem with meds in the past, the Xanax can be highly addictive as well which is why I have a low does (.25) and a small amount prescribed to me under strict dr. supervision. The one thing I have noticed as that when I take the Lexapro alone (just before bed) I get very sleepy, if I take a xanax along with it it KNOCKS ME OUT, where I become a zombie and just pass out with a recess pieces cup in my hand (have woken up with it all over myself :) my husband is still teasing me about this. So be careful when taking them together, although we all react differently to meds this is what I see. Also put in the fact that I'm on other strong meds as well but I've heard the same from others on different forums when mixing just the xanax and lexapro. I hope this helps, I could chat forever as I'm just trying to "quikcly" respond to your question but I do have much experience with all kinds of meds (unfortunately, hoping to one day be on my OWN) so anyway, my e-mail is kjrkendal@aol.com, please FEEL FREE to contact me at anytime if you'd like to chat and also please respond here or there and let me know if any of this helps and would love to know how you're doing. Good luck with everything and take care! (p.s...my dr. is one of the very best dr.'s at our local hospital out here, highly recommended and spoken of very highly but several patients and other dr.'s, I'm working with her and her associate which is my suboxone and pain mgmt. dr. (also head of pain mgt., the director for 30 years of this hospital) so I am confident that they know what they are doing with me as far as what prescriptions I am mixing)..and you may ask how I got addicted to pain meds if they know what they are doing but I will just honestly say they were not the dr.'s that gave me large quanities of pain meds I was taking, I saw other dr.'s to get the amount i needed, these dr.'s are the ones that investigated my records with the fda as they felt I had a problem and have worked together (called me on it! :) to get me better in the methods that they know and have become "masters" in this manner. Hope this makes sense. Again, good luck to you and hope to hear back..

I was told to never ever mix xanax or any anit anxiety meds with sleeping pills or anything else other than an antideppressant cause it can be deadly so please be careful and ask your dr. what u can and cannot misx with it :)
