Answer/Reply:

I have been taking Boniva for 8 months now and my bone scan showed more bone loss. I now have terrible acid reflux and have a hard time swallowing. I am having an EGD done next week. I have to give the Boniva 12 months then I guess we go from there.

I have lower back osteo. and was put on boniva by my doctor. I took it for at least a year and my chiropractor told me it causes bone problems in the jaw. I already had osteo jaws and my doctor didn't tell me about this side effect. I took myself off of it and plan to visit a natureopath that specializes in osteo, to get me on a vitamin program that will help me. I was having quite a bit of acid reflux problems and when I told my doctor he said boniva had nothing to do with it. So I have been researching it on the internet and my chiro. was right.

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:

I took bonivia less than a year my jaw bone feels heavy and a little numb and just a little painful could the boniva be doing this?

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:

I too did not get much benefit from taking Boniva for one year. It was determined my Vitamin D level was low even though I take 1200 a day. I will continue to take Boniva while I am working on bringing my Vitamin D level to normal level.

Question/Comment:

if anyone has taken Boniva or may be thinking about taking it PLEASE research carefully. These meds are causing terrible pain in joints, severe muscle weakness, the FDA is going to review these meds. again, so many complaints, this includes boniva, fosamax. I took boniva for 7 mo.& was almost crippled from the pain in lower back and both hips, the muscle weakness and spasms were terrible. This stuff stays in our bodies for 10 yrs. go to askapatient.com or healthdiaries.com. There are 472 women on askapatient.com who had awful side effects, me included, so RESEARCH, before you take ANY of these meds. I am still on pain meds. and have been off the med. for 1 yr. and 9 mo.

My arthritis doctor wants to put me on Boniva injections? Any comments?

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:

I just started taking Boniva last week and I am a little apprehensive about it. The Doctor gave it to me about 3 months ago and it took me this long to take it. I don't think I will take anymore because I am not feeling quite myself after taking the first one. I don't have ostoporosis I have ostoteopenia so I think I will try with diet and milk instead of Boniva.

Answer/Reply:

Thank you so very much for your comments and suggestions in researching Boniva. I am 52 and in good health with two young boys to run after. I went to the askapatient.com website and was amazed that so many people experience terrible side effects. I will NOT be taking my 1st monthly pill and plan on looking into an alternative drug. I want to thank you for writing about other web sites to research,
