Question/Comment:

at first i was affraid to take lantus because of the needle. but i was very surprised at how small the needle was and it didn't hurt at all. lantus is so easy to take and i'm happy with it.

Question/Comment:

i am currently using lantus insulin. i am up to 70cc's once daily and does not in anyway control my bloodsugar. originally i had been using metformin with the lantus and developed metphormin related lactic acidosis and then was switched to januvia in combination with the lantus. the januvia has caused rhabdomyolisis and the lantus alone does nothing to bring my blood sugars down.

Answer/Reply:

Is rhabdmyolisis a rare side effect of januvia? My doctor just switched me to that along with the Lantus Solostar.

Question/Comment:

i had been taking sitagliptin-generic for januvia an antidiabetic oral medication for approx. 2-3 months. previously i had rhabdomyolisis from statin medications (zocor & lipitor ) for ex. until my dr. & i have just discovered januvia increases creatinine levels in the bloodstream as well and causes extreme muscle pain and muscle weakness and can destroy the kidney's heart, liver and brain and also results in rhabdomyolisis which i now have again because of the januvia. januvia is an extremely dangerous medication and causes life threatening complications and should be removed from the market.

Answer/Reply:

I am not sure about everyone else, but I need to use 80 units of Lantus for good control, but when I do I gain weight with rapidity even while dieting. I have experimented a few times by dropping the lantus and have immediately lost 10lb in a week. Resumption of lantus will cause weight gain to the tune of 5 lbs or more per month.

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:

I have been taking 80 units of Lantus for some time now and my weight has increased with the increased dosing. My weight has finally levelled off since the dosage is now the same. I also had to start taking my Lantus in the morning as my BS was dropping dramatically during the night. To be honest I think my BS level has been like a roller coaster since I have been on the Lantus although it is at least having occasional normal BS, unlike before when i was on a different insulin regimen. In addition to Lantus, I also take Novalog before lunch and supper.

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:

I have been diabetic for 23 years (type 1) and I have NEVER had trouble with controlling my weight. When my doctor started me on lantus 4 years ago, I have not been able to control my weight (even with strict diet and exercise) I questioned my doctor about this and he said that lantus DOES NOT cause weight gain and that I should eat less and exercise more. I asked him to take me off of it and try something else and he said NO, and that I could either fly with him or fly with someone else! Well after careful consideration, I have decided to "fly with someone else." I am tired of feeling bad and depressed. I think there is better than this out there.
