All I know is that it works for me.

Answer/Reply:
I am thankful that it also works for me. After taking maintenance antihistamine/decongestants most of my adult life, working around their losing effectiveness, being discontinued, dropped from formularies, etc., it is a miracle to me that one tiny pill daily can eliminate the heavy, constant post-nasal drip and chronic noseblowing I suffered for years. It has also done away with the morning and evening response tickle cough after taking a deep breath. And no, I am not a smoker and never have been. I have been taking it for about five years now with no negative consequences. I'm sorry for all those who have bad side-effects, but would like to encourage anyone with chronic sinus conditions whose doctors prescribe it to give it a chance, at least. Singulair has made such a positive difference for me!

No it is a leukotriene inhibitor. It is similar to a histamine blocker, liek Zyrtec or Claritin, but adds an additional level of protection from allergens.
