does anyone taking plavix experience joint pain? I am trying to wean myself off of the many drugs I take for my ailments, that it is hard to determine which drug is causing which side effect. My main side effects with taking Lipitor, Plavix, Synthroid, Benicar and Tekturna for high blood pressure, Colchicine for gout symptoms, Osteo Bi-flex, and Centrum Vitamins, Oscal calcium, is THE PAIN IN TOP OF MY FEET, AND THE WEIGHT GAIN THAT I CANNOT SEEM TO TAKE OFF. PLEASE HELP!!!

Answer/Reply:
I have a lot of pain in my feet too. I have wondered if it is the Plavix. I notice it in the morning when I go to get out of bed. I stopped taking Lipitor/zocor/crestor because of all the muscle aches. My feet and hands are always cold. All we can do is ask our doctors.

All sick people should use own judgement and cross-reference prescribed drugs.
In many cases Doctors are agents for pharmaceutical industry and for them only profits counts.
Pharmaceutical industry is making fortunes on the misery of suffering people.
Most of those drugs you do take are poisons with no positive effect on your conditions and with a lot of side effects.
Many drugs You are taking are contaminated/crosscontaminated to start with.
I worked for 34 years in pharmaceutical industry.
"PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY IS ENEMY WITHIN".
The extraordinarily lucrative pharmaceutical industry has long been driven more by profit, power and policy then pills or concern to Health and Safety.
There is much moral posturing in an industry that is only too well aware, that it capitalizes on a captive market of the desperate and the afflicted.
Stephanie Saul of the NY Times reported today in an article entitled âDoctors and Drug Makers: A Move to End Cozy Tiesâ that the pharmaceutical industry spends $12 billion a year on marketing to doctors and that much of that money is in the form of free drug samples and lunches that have been calculated to have been around $2.5 billion a year. I wonder how much of these marketing costs are factored into the $800 million to $1.0 billion price tag associated with bringing a new drug to market? Go figureâ¦..

I have been taking Plavix for the last 8months. The pain in my feet and legs are caused from nerve damage from diabetes. I unable to stand or even sit for long periods. I have never had any problems with my health until December 2007. I was told that my blood sugar was over 300, i had had 4 mini strokes and nerve damge to my feet and this was all before ant meds were perscribed.

Sounds like we are mirror images. June 1, 2007 I went to the ER with what I thought was congestion due to smoke from wild fires. It was a heart attack. My sugar was over 800 and my A1C was over 15 - all my numbers were in the stratosphere. Until that night I thought my health was great. The pain in my feet and left arm/hand is from diabetic nerve damage. My pain in the legs, feet and hands is from diabetic nerve damage and my meds have not caused or increased the intensity.

Now that you mention it, I have had a lot of pain in my feet too for about a year now and just live with it... Never even thought it could be from my meds.... Thanks for the insight. Norman

I am a diabetic, with high blood pressure and high cholestrol. I have been doing fine the last 4 years then 4 months ago I had a stint put in and now take plavix. I the last month I started developing extreme sore joints in the ankle, elbow and wrist. Plus the weight gain is killing me. My diet has not changed and my weight stayed the same for years until I started the plavix. I can't find anything from the manufacture or the doctor regarding the weight gain or joint pain. Please post anything you can find on the subject.

This week I went to my Rheumatologist for a checkup for my arthritis. I told him I had a problem with Gout in June that my podiatrist prescribed 2 days of tablets of Colchicine which cleared it up within a few days. She recommended I not take it longer than 2 days unless I didn't see any improvement. My Rheumatologist said if I have any more Gout problems within six months that I should call him right away. He said there could be reasons for the Gout and problems if I didn't have him check me out. He never said what the problems could be, but maybe you should check with a Rheumatologist if you continue having the Gout return.

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:
The length of treatment you need will depend upon the type of stent you received, and a more detailed review of your clinical situation... Best to speak with your doctor or cardiologist.
