Question/Comment:
I started taking Actonel once a month lasr march. Do I have to take it on the same day as of last month, or it can be a near day(ej. Sunday)?

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:
You should try to take ACTONEL 150 mg once-a-month dose on the same scheduled day every month. However, if you miss your dose, you can take the missed tablet the morning after the day you remember as long as the next month's scheduled dose is more than 7 days away.
If the dose of ACTONEL 150 mg once-a-month is missed, and the next month's scheduled dose is within 7 days, you should follow up with your pharmacist or doctor for additional instructions.

Answer/Reply:
When I took actonel monthly, I took it on a 30 day cycle. The days do change. I went back to the weekly because the monthly dose is stronger than the weekly...I didn't have any trouble with either, but I feel more confortable taing it weekly...

Answer/Reply:
I take it every Sunday morning. If I forget to take it, I'll take it on Monday morn, and then return to the Sunday schedule. The instructions that come with the drug explain what to do. Read it.

Question/Comment:
Some dentists fear the side effects of biphosphates (Actonel) as one side effect can be jaw necrosis. But a very small percentage of people actually suffer this side effect. (If dental work needs to be done, the jaw won't heal properly.) We are more at far more risk for breaking a bone due to osteoporosis than we are for getting jaw necrosis.

Question/Comment:
I don't think their is a generic out for actonel yet. Actonel has a program for people who can't
afford it. Go to their web site for details. Before my Doc switched me to once a month Actonel
I was on weekly generic fosomax which Wal-mart Target and most drug stores sell a months
supply for $10.00

Separating taking Actonel from taking magnesium and calcium products by at least 2 hours is usually enough to time to lower the impact of the drug interaction.
