This drug causes me to have headaches, drymouth and joint pain. I sleep three hours and then I am wide awake for the rest of the night. I have developed allergies since I started taking high blood pressure medication. I take Atenetol in the morning and Norvasc at night. I am 66 and female.

Answer/Reply:

I am a 64 year old female with high blood pressure, and hardening of the arterys, I have been taking these medicines for about 4-5 years, all of a sudden about 3 months ago my feet, ankles and my right leg is swollen with pain, a burning pain in my right ankle and calf, it swells up so bad and is red, I have been to the hospital and they sent me home with antibiotics which did not help at all, the doc said I have the beginning of heart failure although recently I have been in the hospital and they checked my heart for blood flow and I could see it on the monitor and they said I had good heart flow, so now what?? I still have the swollen leg and the pain and don't know what to do. It may be from the meds but I don't think so because I have been taking them for about 5 years.
