Global Patient Feedback for Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) ( Post a comment )
Question/Comment:
I use Cipro for 10 days for a UTI. I had a burning sensation on my tongue and gums. It felt like I had burnt my mouth from drinking hot coffee. Also there was a thick coating on my tongue. I didn't notice constipation however and had no muscle pain either. The UTI disappeared so the medicine worked despite my oral discomfort.

Question/Comment:
I've been taking cipro for about 2 and half weeks. The only thing I've noticed is now I'm extremely constipated. I'm 43 years old and I've never had this problem in my life. I'm supposed to be on this medicene for 30 days and I'm going to try to hang in there. I've taken stool softeners and prune juice for 2 days now with little help so far.
I've got an enlarge prosate so the doctor thinks my bladder is infected cause it is not empting out, so thats why I have to take this.

Question/Comment:
Cipro is effective but causes a horrible vaginitis that takes 5-6 treatments to get rid of. I feel sluggish and have a headache and now have heart irregularities magnified. Also, my digestive tract can not settle down. I found a product in the stomach/intestinal area of my drug store that restores thebacteria as it has lactobacillus in it. But I go through that rather than experience a severe infection in a wound.
Eating a very simplediet of plain rice with amb and oatmeal seems tohelp clean out my system with lots and lots of water.I suspect the illnesses result from not drinking an 8 ounce glass of water every hour during the waking day If your urine has any color to it while on Cipro you are not drinking enough pure water to prevent kidney problems.\No smoking or drinking alcohol with any medication like this.

Question/Comment:
Until reading this stuff about the Ciprofloxacin I would never have ever thought about the conection. I have almost lost the use of my right arm over the last 18 mo.
My arm above the elbow and below the shoulder started becoming so painful I just didn't use it.
Even to touch it was painful. It did get a little better after a long period of time, only to become painful again after useing it again. Now the shoulder is firery painful along with the arm. I saw
a Doctor that said Roder(sorry the spelling) cup was bad. Hmmmm sounds like it could be this
medication. The left arm is becoming the same way in the last 8 mo. I have seen this Doctor
2 times more and he wants to put a shot into the shoulder. I am terrifed of this being done and
told him so. He said "well let me know when you change your mind". I don't know what to do.
I really hurt bad but can't get pass this. Any idea's Thanks for any help here.

Question/Comment:
I am not one to complain, but just recently, I finished a 10 day regiment of cipro, and developed what feels like tendonitis in my right shoulder and upper arm. I know a physical therapist and he treated my shoulder with very painful massage techniques. The pain in the shoulder has now subsided but now has travelled to my elbow. I use a TENS unit and that seems to help the pain. I was wondering if the pain will ever go away completely or do I have to live with it? I wouldn't use cipro but that is the only antibiotic that seems to help my condition. I've been on and off this drug for many years now and this is the first real side affect I have had. Does anyone have any other Ideas? I don't want to go back to the Dr for this cause they seem to just rack up a bill. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Please respond to me directly to jerryvarichak865@msn.com and thanks for your time.

Question/Comment:
I have taken this family of drugs before; but, last week experienced a severe allergic reaction 10 minutes after taking the first dose. I broke out in a rash, wheezing, tightness in chest; and, swelling of hands and face. The rash covered my arms, face and legs. The doctor had to give me a shot of steriod; and, benydryl.
