Question/Comment:

Alprazolam seems to be highly unpredictable. Some days it makes me so tired I could hardly keep my eyes open, but then there are other days the side effects are minimal. At least at first do not operate machinery or drive until you know how your body will react to this medication.

Question/Comment:

Can become habit-forming.

Answer/Reply:

Been there, done that. My withdrawal situation was horrible. I am still on it but be careful. If you take too many and run out before the 30 days are up, it will be a bad experience.

Question/Comment:

If you have anxiety attacks, xanax can relieve these symptoms and prevent the "caged animal" feeling that anxiety causes. Take as directed and you will have no problems, only relief.

Question/Comment:

I have been taking losepine (propton pump inhibitor) for a number of years and I am wondering if it has an effect on xanax. I am very nervous about flying and had panned to take a .25 g tab of xanax for the flight. Would this be safe ? The instructions with the losepine say there may be an interraction with diazepan.

Question/Comment:

I was put on xanax when hospitalized with rapid irregular heart beart and a history of Panic and Anxiety attacks. It works much better then valium and I like the dosages better.
This is as someone stated a safety drug and I too carry it with me everywhere but am also Agarophobic and have a tendency to pass out in crouds, this is a great medication that has given me the ability to go shopping again and even drive my car again!
Only thing I dont like about all of these medications is that they are addictive and you have to be very careful you dont take more then the prescribed amount per day or drink while on this medication.

Question/Comment:

My Dr has me on the Generic 2mg pills. he wants me to take half of one in the morning and half in the evening. my mom says i'm slurring my words and acting like I'm drunk. Any suggestions? Should I take a 1/4 n the morning and 1/4 in the evening? Thanks.

31 year old Female

Answer/Reply:

I would try the 1/4 n the morning and night! Most of the time you know yourself better then the Doc., Ive been taking .05 4x a day and depending on how I feel that day I take less. Plus if your family and friends have seen you out of it, sounds like you need to start at a lower dose and work up if you have to. Becareful, coming off of this can be difficult!

35 year old Female

Answer/Reply:

My Dr. had me on 1mg twice daily then all of a sudden without telling me went down to 1mg a day,I have severe anxiety.I was told it was a hormone problem, she doesn't know I had a Hysterectomy last year and my symptoms only got worst. The instuctions tell you not to cut the pills as they will not work once they are cut.

Question/Comment:

I think the timed release xanax is called sustained release.Either way ,your DR would know what your talking about if you mentioned either one.

49 year old Male

Question/Comment:

Xanax is what I call my safe drug, I take it with me every place even if I am not taking it, I suffer with panic attacks and if I feel one comming on I know I will be ok. My dosage is low so I can still drive on it. I have had no side affects with it, the only problem I see with it is if you use it as a sleep aid, even if you sleep eight hours you still feel like you havent had a good sleep and it catches up with you eventually.

48 year old Female

Question/Comment:

Please don't forget they also have timed release xanax now.
