The product labeling for Bystolic (nebivolol) does not list leg pain or weakness as a side effect. However, beta blockers like Bystolic are often used with other medications that commonly cause muscle pain. You may want to follow up with your doctor to review your medication list and discuss what might be causing your leg pain.

Although it is not listed as a side effect, you are obviously not the only one it is happening to. I am having difficulty walking or standing for a long period of time because of the painful, tired & weak feeling in my legs. Oddly enough it is not just limited to my legs, I am also having the same feeling in my arms. I am getting a little concerned because I thought by now my body would have adjusted to this medicine, but the side effects seems to be getting more annoying as the days pass. Today, I had so much anxiety about how I was feeling that I could not drive myself to work. I am only taking 5mg, It's hard to imaging what it is like taking higher doses. I would love to stop taking this medication, but I understand that you have to get off slowly.
Anyone else out there experiencing any side effects?

Yes! My cardiologist switched me from lotensin to bystolic since my numbers were high -
Taken only 5mg caused such anxiety and wierd dreaming when i do sleep. Pressure didn't
lower much so he added another 5mg. I went back yesterday in tears! I am so dizzy and anxious! he insisted bystolic was the wonder drug - i made him switch me to lopressor which i will start while i am off work during the holidays. I have read on a thyroid forum that either you love or hate this drug. He said it usually gets better with time. But I don't want to end us in a mental health hospital. And no i cannot drive while taking this drug and i live only 1 mile away from my job! And my arms and legs are feeling pretty wierd!

It is good to know that I was not having a mental breakdown. Along with the muscle pain, I was so anxious that I had to start taking anti-anxiety medication. When I complained to my doctor about the anxiety his comment was "the medicine don't do that." I wish more doctors would listen to their patients when they complain about how they are feeling. After all, the patient knows best when it relates to how their feeling and when those feelings started. We are told to let our doctors know what side effects we are experiencing, but what good does it do if they don't believe us anyway.

Yes - This beta blocker definitely causes more anxiety then most other beta blockers. Certain beta blockers seem to have an anti-anxiety effect, such as Propranol, Metoprolol, Betaxolol and Nadolol. I say this with experience using several different beta blockers. Bystolic gave me a little more energy than the other beta blockers, but it appears that extra energy seems to let the anxiety and occasional hyper-reaction slip through more easily. If you are stressed, than Metoprolol/Lopressor or Propranol will calm you down. Bystolic also made me forgetful and short term memory was definitely effected. Oddly, Betaxolol or Toprol improved my short memory.

The product labeling for Bystolic (Nebivolol) does not list muscle pain as a side effect. Since there are other causes of muscle pain, including other medications, you may want to follow up with your doctor if the muscle pain is still concerning you.
