It usually starts to take effect within 30 minutes of taking it. I sleep well all night, but it takes an extra cup of coffee to wake up in the morning. When I get fully awake there are no side effects

Question/Comment:

I would only reccoment this drug to people who have difficulty falling asleep due to a short term problem (ie going through a stressful time in life) because I was given Restoril with many refills, and began taking it every night. It can definately become habit forming and I have a VERY hard time faling asleep without it now.

Question/Comment:

i feel temazepam is a good drug for not being able to sleep but as most drugs its affects wear off over time

Question/Comment:

I tried to count sheep, drink warm milk, read a boring book, melatonin, benadryl, blah blah blah. Nothing helps me the way (prescription) drugs do. Temazepam (Restoril) does not seem to make me sleepy and has a slow onset, but it does help me stay asleep. I do get a hang over effect, so I take it early in the evening about 7pm if possible. It is relatively inexpensive without prescription coverage. Temazepam does not make me eat everything in sight but it does affect my ability to have orgasms, which is a known side effects of the "am" group of drugs such as lorazepam and alprazolam etc., and so does Amitriptyline (Elavil) which also made my legs do spastic dances and jerks, and I gained 20 pounds! I would prefer to use Zolpidem (Ambien), especially the CR since is has such natural onset but it is more expensive. Then I have to decide whether I prefer to have no orgasms or total amnesia since I become a sleep-walker, sleep-eater, and I can't remember conversations, (CRS) after taking it. Great choice huh? Alas, I take the safer for me and don't sleep the night I want to have sex.

I have also had problems having an orgasm since I started Temezepam. I don't take it every night, but two or three nights a week. If I don't take it when I am planning to have sex, do you think it would still be a problem? Have you tried not taking it for a night or two to see if you could climax? It doesn't give me the hang over effect, but my appetite has increased. I am also on steroids, which could count for the appetite. What else can you tell me about ambien? Is it better than restoril?
