Question/Comment:

I am bipolar and on several meds for it and related problems. My doctor says I should not take Chantix, I have tried welbutrin in the past and it doesn't work for me. Any other recommendations? Does the gum or patch work and if so which one is better?

Answer/Reply:

All the medication as well as just going on your own will not work if you dont truly want to quit.As with any addiction you have to acceept that it is really hurting you and others too.Keep praying and meditating and join a support group. It truly is possible if you do theese simple steps.Stay away from smokers as much as possible and in two weeks you will too see and smell and that alone will help. You will also have a bitt more energy and that will help you too.I will pray for you as I too smoked 42 years and have not still had to use theese tools even today.Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know an old remedy to stop smoking addiction?

18 year old Female

Answer/Reply:

I don;t know about an old remedy to stop smoking however I plan to try a long approch.
I think if I take one cigarett away a week then I can ween myself off them slowly.

example; Start with a pack a day- 20 cigaretts the next week I will smoke 19 a day
the next week 18 and so on untill I BECOME A NON SMOKER. I think this would help
lesson the pain of withdrawl with out added expence. hope it's an option to consider. I hope it's
better than cold turkey. Good luck! you can do it1

Answer/Reply:

How's that working for you? I just recieved patches from my Insurance Co. and am not sure if I want to use them.

52 year old Female

Answer/Reply:

Oh those patchs! I am so allergic to the glue that they hurt and only last a short while. What's a girl to do! I have constant pain problems from 8 back surgeries, smoking seems to calm me and make it easier . I have no kids so I quess I'll just keep puffing away! Plus I like to smoke.
