Question/Comment:

I started taking Klonopin in 1990, along with another medication to control my tremors. I am 47 now, and experienced my first siezure at 18. I noticed, it helps with anxiety/panic disorders, which I believe I have. I only take 1mg, 1x a day. My head, hands shake very badly, almost to the point, I can't write, or pour anything. Lately, I have been loosing weight, an my platelet level is low. Is this normal? Could I have Thrombocytopenia? My apetite is terrible, even tho I am very hungry. I really hurt in the lower part of my abdomen, right side. My doctor is not taking me seriously.

I don't know how up to date this site is, but Keppra has a generic now called Levetiracetam. My pharamicist told me about it. Look into it as an alternative. I don't have insurance and buy Lamictal & Keppra pil/pill. It's cheaper but still expensive.

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:

lamictal also has a generic-lamotrigine

Question/Comment:

Since being switched from Sodium Valporate Chrono 500mg bd to Keppra 500mg bd and Clobazam 10mg od in October my seizures have increased from 1 in 3 years to multiple seizures on a daily basis, despite being reassured that Keppra is more favourable what is the reason for this? I am a 40 year female who had a total hysterectomy 10 years ago and haven't taken any HRT.

Question/Comment:

can damaged cells be repaired....foe example if some one has just finished a brain operation and the report says that a little part of the brain is damaged and the cells around that part are dead, how is it possible for the cells to rebuild??? or there are no more chances for the patient to heal from the damage....

Answer/Reply:

I had a brain surgery at 23 - from a bullet - just above and back of my left ear - I had grand Mal seizures for abou 15 years - about 3-5 per year - maybe from scar tissue - noone told me to watch for these at that time - I found that over the years it was from too little blood flow to that area - had to watch medicines carefully - after seizures then migranes -- now no problems, no meds - so it can happen. I am now 62 yrs and female

I do get tingling in my fingers with taking 150mg twice daily of Topamax and 100 mg of Zonegran. Is this normal? Usually this is when doing a lot of activity. Also, taking the Paxil with the Zonegran did cause severe depression upon your warning.

Question/Comment:

my son is on topamax 25 mg an depakote 125 mg twice daily. since he started on the topamax he has been nervous scared of things he was not doing this before what do i need to do about this.

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:

It is common for people to feel or act differently when they start new medications like Topamax. If your son's behavior does not improve and still concerns you, you should follow up with your son's doctor.

Question/Comment:

I HAVE STARTED TOPOMAX 50MG, ALONG WITH THAT I AM STILL ON PHENOBARB 64MG TABLETS(2 on odd days, 3 on even days) AND PHENOTION 100MG TABLETS I HAVE BEEN DECREASED TO 300 MG AT NIGHT. I AM HAVING TINGLING A KIND OF TWITCHING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF MY FACE WHEN I LAY DOWN ON MY BACK. I JUST WONDER WHAT IT IS FROM, I DO HAVE TINGLING IN MY LEGS AND FEET SOMETIMES MY ARMS AND HANDS. CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THIS?

41 year old Female

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:

It's tough to say what is causing your symptoms - it might be the medications or may be related to your condition - It's worth having a discussion with your doctor about this tingling/twitching.

Hopefully other users will also comment about their experience with these three medications.

Question/Comment:

I am a 26 female and I have just started a new drug phenytoin sodium aka dilantin. It's 400 in the morning and 400 before bed. What would happen if I took both doses at the same tim? The prcribed me 100mg pills!

27 year old Female

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:

Dont do it I have experienced with myself and it is not a pretty result. In other words you could have a seizure due to an overdose, because your body will become too toxic to the dose of phenotoin. I am taking phenobarb, topomax 50mg, phenotion 300 mg at night and I also have a thiroid problem.

Answer/Reply:

When I was prescribed 400mg daily many, many years ago I noticed a burning sensation in my chest and throat. I asked my Doctor if I could split the dosing. I take 2 in the morning and 2 at night. This has worked out fine for me.
