Question/Comment:

I have also heard of possible side effects of using cafegot-that it can induce more migraines. In the 9 years that I've been on this medication, there are some occassions where migraines returned within 2 days after it got better with cafegot. But in general, it still works very well for me with no major side effects.

Question/Comment:

My GP says that a possible side effect of using cafegot is that it can induce more migraines, causing it to become a vicious cycle. When I get a migraine, I take cafegot. But cafegot induces more migraine. Is that true?

Answer/Reply:

Your doctor is wrong! Have had severe headaches since I was a teenager. Cafergot/Ergotamine is a safe, non-narcotic way to alleviate your pain. I have taken this for years and it works better than any of the so called "new" meds. Your doctor probably wants to prescribe something more expensive that may or may not work but cafergot DOES not cause additional headaches. Hope this helps!
