Question/Comment:

I was on aciphex for over a year; started taking it after I had upper GI done for chest pain. It made be very bloated with alot of presure feeling. For some reason it stopped working & I developed really bad acid refux and nausea. Plus I could not afford it even with my ins, my doctor had to supply me with samples every month. I stopped taking it and now take pepcid and feel much better. Female 37

Question/Comment:

Took Prevacid for 3 years until it stopped working. Last couple of days when getting Prevacid out of my system, I was swamped with acid. Very bad. Dr. gave me a choice of things to try (knew from first time around that Nexium was last resort because of cramping when I first attempted it 3 years ago). Tried Aciphex. The Acid flow was cut off immediately. Day 1, felt perfect (had forgotten how that felt). Days 2 and 3 have slight irritating gas/bloating. Could live with this, but hoping it will go away. Jury still out on whether I will stick with Aciphex or try another.

Question/Comment:

I am a 56 year old male with type 2 diabetes. I have taken Aciphex for a lot of years and it works well. The only problem I have is the cost. For years my copay was around $41 per month, about 6 months ago I had it refilled and when I went to pick it up my insurance no longer paid, so my cost was going to be over $300 for one month. I canceled it and started Prilosec over the counter. This works well for me. I have had no heartburn or anything in that range of problems.

Member Answer/Reply:

I also was on Kapidex and switched to Aciphex. Only problem was despite it working well, THE COST is beyond my means. Company has discount coupons for regular users, but "fine print" says if you are on Medicare, NO DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE!!! So, any of 65 or older have to pay BIG $$$$.
I have to find something else...I do not understand why drug maker would torture us like this????

Question/Comment:

No longer on Aciphex. Now taking Kapidex

Member Answer/Reply:

I submitted the previous comment about Aciphex and changing to Kapidex. Was having break through nausea and vomiting one or two meals a day for nearly a week. Therefore the change to Kapidex. No breakthroughs with Kapidex and no other side effects noted while it has been nearly a month now. Evidence of a small to mid size pouch or diverticuli in the esophogus as seen on a scope.

Question/Comment:

I was given Aciphex because of the 2 inhalers I use. Supposedly they will give me heartburn/gerd. I have had no side effects from it and I assume it's doing it's job because I haven't had any heartburn problems.
