Question/Comment:

I fell off the steps of my trailer 4 years ago and hurt my knee. I had my dog in my arms and my cat was laying on the stair and in trying to avoid it I landed all 250 pounds right on my left knee.( No animals were harmed!) I had an operation for torn ligaments and am currently waiting for more surgery because of osteoarthritis. I can't sleep at night because my knee pops or cracks when I'm just laying down. The other name for Temazepam is Restoril, and believe me I get my rest at night! I've tried Ativan and it made me too groggy in the morning. I started with 30 mg of Temazepam but it was too strong so I changed to 15 mg and it works just fine. Always work with your doctor to find out the right dosage for you.

Please click on log in at www.iGuard.org, then enter your email address and password that you chose. Once you do this at the top of the page you will see View/Edit profile, once you click on that, in the middle of the page are your list of medications.

To add new medications start typing in the drug name and a drop down list will appear, you can either choose the drug name from the list (recommended) or finish typing in the rest of the name. Make sure you do not add the dose or time of day you take the drug. The formulation (discus, tablet, capsule) the dose (200mg) and the time taken (Day/Night) is not required for our system to provide drug-drug drug-disease interactions and medication safety alerts.

To remove a medication please click the small box next to the medication name. Once you have modified your profile to your liking click on save changes. Once the changes are saved you can now view all interactions and information on the new medications.

AFTER TAKING THIS DRUG FOR MANY YEARS IT DOES NOT WORK. I DON't know at this time what drug can be used now.

Answer/Reply:

Regarding Tamazepam. I hate all drugs, but at 66yrs, have to be on several due to aging health! I am a 30 yr caregiver of my parents and Moms coming home tomorrow from nursing home for 10th time! I stay under EXTREME STRESS. My point is that all 3 people in my household are on Tamazepam 15mg or 30mg. We only take it when we absolutely need sleep
as I get immune to meds if taken to long! It sounds like you may have built up some immunity to the drug! For us it has been the only thing ever to actually work for all of us! Maybe you should try OC melatonin for awhile. Also, lots of other drugs keep you awake as side effects. Maybe you should have your doctor or druggist double check your meds! Good luck-I sure know what sleepless nights do to you!

Question/Comment:

Iam thankful for this site cause it has answered some questions my doctor did not. I have had some itching with this drug also alot of drowsiness I sleep 13 or more hrs a day and I am tired all day. I will say one thing it has taken my racing thoughts away, so I guess i will put up with tiredness rather than the racing thoughts. I am also on celexa and diazepam.
thanks again for the comments on this site.

Question/Comment:

Has anyone had any problem with itching with this medicine? No rash, just itching.

49 year old Female

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:

At this time, no iGuard members have reported itching as a side effect of temazepam and itching is not reported as a side effect in the product labeling of temazepam. However, patients can be allergic to any type of medication - itching is often a symptom of an allergy to a medication and typically occurs when you first begin taking a medication. If the itching continues or gets worse, please make an appointment with your physician to discuss possible causes.

Answer/Reply:

Yes!! Itching was so intense. Started on the palms of my hands, soles of feet, then moved to forearms & all over. I was not aware of what was causing the itching so I went to see an allergist. After many visits to him & a lot a blood work, he determined that it had to be one of the medications I was on. I quit taking it & the itching stopped after a couple of days.
