Question/Comment:
Nasonex tastes really bad-much like ear-wax!!! If your sinuses are bad it can sneak up on you hours after you took it. I once woke up to that horrible taste and it truly is the most unpleasant taste I have experienced. I had instant headaches when I first started taking it, they stopped after I had been taking it regularly for a couple of weeks.

Question/Comment:
I lost all taste and smell when I combined this with regular Zyrtec. I used it as directed for 3 days and then my senses were gone. I was told by the Nurse Practioner that this can happen with steroids. I was in severe allergic mode so my level of inflammation was high as well. I have used it occasionally but no more than once daily for 3 days without side effects. It took 4 weeks for my senses to return. Is this common?

iGuard Answer/Reply:
Nasonex has rarely caused disturbances with taste and smell in some patients. It is possible the high level of inflammation added to the severity of your reaction. While it is not common, it is a side effect reported with this medication.

Nosebleeds, is that even on the PIL?

Answer/Reply:
If you are talking about a monthly menstrual cycle and that of a nosebleed adding to blood loss when they occur together then I am going to say "No". A monthly cycle takes about a month or so to accumulate enough tissue and blood in the uterus and without the egg being fertilized it sloughs off and becomes what is called a "period' or "menstrual cycle". The blood and accumulated tissue is used for the egg when fertilized to grow in ( like a nest) and become a fetus and you know the rest of the story . A nose bleed comes from the small blood vessels ( capillaries) near the surface of the skin usually due to dryness which in turn causes this symptom of bleeding. There is no need to fear bleeding too much or what you may think of as becoming anemic s a result as there is not enough blood loss to be concerned about. No more than a cup of blood from a period and much less from a nosebleed. The Pill controls the hormones in our body in relation to a monthly cycle and of course nosebleeds as explained above does not. So whether on the pill or not, a nosebleed occurs and flow amount is totally unaffected by the pill. I hope this helps explain what you want to know.
