Question/Comment:

Can I safely take viagra or cialis while take isosorbide dinitrate.

76 year old Female

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:

Cialis may significantly increase your risk of low blood pressure when using isosorbide dinitrate. As a result, these drugs are usually not used together. If you have any additional questions about these two medicines, please speak to your doctor.

Please click on log in at www.iGuard.org, then enter your email address and password that you chose. Once you do this at the top of the page you will see View/Edit profile, once you click on that, in the middle of the page are your list of medications.

To add new medications start typing in the drug name and a drop down list will appear, you can either choose the drug name from the list (recommended) or finish typing in the rest of the name. Make sure you do not add the dose or time of day you take the drug. The formulation (discus, tablet, capsule) the dose (200mg) and the time taken (Day/Night) is not required for our system to provide drug-drug drug-disease interactions and medication safety alerts.

To remove a medication please click the small box next to the medication name. Once you have modified your profile to your liking click on save changes. Once the changes are saved you can now view all interactions and information on the new medications.

Question/Comment:

2 years ago I had triple bypass surgery. My doctor gave be isosorbide mononitrate. 6 weeks later I wasn't feeling well and I took my blood pressure. It had dropped to 70/50. I went to the hospital and they told me I was having an incident of somekind. My doctor did an angiogram and he found out that one of my small grafts collapsed. He didn't know if the low blood pressure caused the graft to collapse or the graft collapsing caused the low blood pressure. In either case it cause another 10 percent damage to my heart. I have now found out the the manuafacturer was mismanufacturing the drug and in fact instead of getting 60 mgs I was getting a lot more. My prescription plan has stopped ordering from this manufacturer. The side effect of getting more of the medication was low blood pressure. I wonder if there is any news on this.

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:

In November 2008, Ethex Corporation issued a voluntary recall of several products including
isosorbide mononitrate. The products were recalled because the tablet size was enlarged and thus delivering a potentially larger dose than what was intended and labeled. The company provides a 1-800 number to direct additional questions or to verify if your date and lot of product was impacted by this recall.

Question/Comment:

I would like to know if theres any supplement for anxiety & depression, not for me but a 21 yr old grandson . I'm using this site because I didn't know where else to go ??

66 year old Female

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:

Anxiety and depression are serious disorders that can affect a person’s daily activity. It might be a good idea to take your grandson to a doctor to get a correct diagnosis and an understanding of the problem. There are many antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications that can be used to treat these conditions. In terms of herbal supplements, St. John’s Wort has been used for depression. However, there may be a lot of drug interaction with this medication and it is besy to see a doctor before taking any herbal medication for these problems.

Answer/Reply:

Question/Comment:

I've been taking Imdur 120 mg for for several years without a problem. While the generic is a lot cheaper, it doesn't work for me. This drug is to be taken in the morning only as it must wear off to be effective the next day.
