Question/Comment:
I am a female diabetic for 40 yrs. I have taken lantus approx 112 yrs, and humalog around 8 . The only thing I will tell you, to be sure and take the right insulin. I once took 72 units in the evening. During the day I would take humalog three times a day, probably. When It came to the night time injection, being tired sometimes I have reached for the humalog and I have drawn it up 3 times in the last few years and gave myself that shot instead of lantus. That is scary, thank the Lord I became aware of what happened and was able to compensate for it by watching and taking proper medication so my sugar would not bottom out. I now do not talk humalog often, but it is in a different place and not easy to get to, so no mistakes can be made. Thank you.

I am a 49 year old male. I have been using insulin for the past 38 years. I have never experienced any type of pain due to insulin use. I have been using Humalog for at least 7-8 years, I am currently using an insulin pump. Do you see an endocrinologist? You didn't state which area you are experiencing pain in. Low blood sugar and high blood sugar can cause headaches. Blood sugar which is not under good control over a long period of time can cause damage to peripheral circulation which can lead to neuropathy, heart disease and blindness. Neuropathy can cause pain and loss of feeling in hands and feet. "you need to discuss these concerns with your doctor". I am sure that you have heard that answer before. Do you know what your hemoglobin A1C is? This is very important for a diabetic.

I have been a diabetic for 41 years. 20 years ago, I started using an insulin pump. I have used several types of insulin and have been using humalog for the past 5 years or so. I haven't noticed any aches or pains with this insulin or with any of the other insulins that I have taken. I love the pump. It makes life so much easier and better for me.

Answer/Reply:
Hi! I've been a diabetic for 38 years. I've been on humalog for aproximately 18 years. I use the paradigm mini med insulin pump with the 24/7 glucose monitoring system. It has been great I have blood glucoses of 90-170 and my A1c's have been around 6.3, 6.6 I feel great and this insulin seems to work faster and with the pump it is easier. Lilly discontinued my previous insulin so I wasn't given a choice what to use so I'm very statisfied with Humalog! I hope it works as well for you!!

Question/Comment:
Hello,
I have used Humalog 25/75 about 4 years now, for my diabetis. When the doctor told me I had diabetis, my sugar level was 402. He put me immediately on Humalog 25/75 insulin. Just shortly before , I showed positive for Lupus and between 3 different doctors, they agreed that I had auto immune hepitis, in which I was put on a steryoid. The steryoid medication caused my diabetis. Sure I have gained some weight, but I feel so much better now. Just 3 weeks ago, a new doctor put me on a pill for my diabetis, and the pain that I had around the liver area, was terrible. I went back to that doctor and told him of the pain, and he put me back on the humalog 25/75 insulin, and I
am starting to feel like my old self. I for one, would rather take insulin for my diabetis than take glimerpiride. Feel free to comment.
