Global Patient Feedback for Endocet (Acetaminophen with Oxycodone) ( Post a comment )
Question/Comment:
I was diagnosed with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), also known as complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). It is a chronic neurological pain disease that developed for me after a wrist and elbow injury. My doctor has prescribed oxycodone and he also wanted me to try neurontin, which gave me horrible side effects that i could not handle so i quit taking it. my doctor has mentioned weaning me off the oxycodone even though it helps with my pain. are there non-narcotics that compare?

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:
An alternative to narcotics is tramadol, which has the brand name Ultram. It works well for pain and does not have an addiction potential. However, tramadol does interact with select drugs and does have some risks that need to be weighed against the benefits. Your doctor is the best person to help you decide whether tramadol is a good choice for you and to discuss the other available treatments.

Question/Comment:
I have fibromyalgea, arthritis and multiple scelrosis. I take percocet one every 6 to 8 hours and 800mg of advil every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Sometimes when I am in alot of pain nothing seems to work. I will use a heating pad and/or ice. sometimes this helps sometimes it willnot. I see some post here that people are afraid of addiction.. when Iam in pain I could care less about addiction! I am open to new ideas to help when the pain is really bad. My doctor(s) seem to avoid increasing or adding other medication for pain. I have been on the percocet for 7 years now.

I'm taking percocet also, I think after taking them for 7 years you could be building immunity. I take a long acting pain med. it's called avinza. You should ask your doctor about it.

I have been taking Percocet for years as well for my RA, Fibromyalgia, Accelerated Pain Syndrome, and the list goes on. I tried the Avinza, but it made my feet, ankles and legs swell all the way up to my knees. So I went off of the medication. The same reaction when they put me on Lyrica for the Fibro. Now I'm taking Kadian (morphine) 2x a day with Percocet available for the break through pain. This has made a big difference.

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:
Everyone reacts differently to medication. Some people are quite sensitive to low doses and others have a high tolerance to high doses. If you need more pain relief than you are achieving from 2 Percocet, and 3 Percocet are too much, you may need a different medication. There are many drugs for pain relief, speak with your doctor and see if you can find the balance of being pain-free and no after effects the next day.

I have taking Oxycodone 5mg Immediate Release for a herniated disc and fibromyalgia. Percocet did not work for me but the Oxycodone did. It is Percs without the asprin in it. I do get that yucky feeling the next day. I call it "the Perc hangover". I know quite a few people who do get and some who don't. Everybody is different.

I have been on pain meds since 1973. I have broken my back 2 times, have RA and Fibromyalgea. I am also on so many pills I could open a pharmacy of my own. I have taken just about every pain med out there and some days they work and some days they don't.
I take 4 percocet and 3 vicodine for the pain and 3 - 25mg Elavil at night. Plus the other meds for the RA and stomach.
When the pain just won't stop I get into either a hot tub and soak or stand under a hot shower. I'm not sure if it's mind over matter or not but this seems to relax the nerves in the body and the pain don't go away but it helps calm it down for a time.
I am now almost 64 and haven't become an addict yet. I do find that after a few years I have to change back to another pain med because you do build up a tolarance to them.

I to have firbromyalgea and arthritis. Also I was hit by a car as a ped which added to my chronic pain. I have been taking percacet and onxycotin for three years. And the past year it seems nothing takes the pain away. I know I have built up a tolerance for the pain meds. The pain doctors have recentley tried facet injections in my neck and lower back. Unfortunaly it did not take care of my problem and we are on the search for other pain salutions. But I have talked to some patients that have had success with these injections. It would be worth looking into.

I have been on Percocet for a number of years, however just recently, instead of only taking the Percocet I now take Opana 15 mgs and then use the Percocet for breakthrough pain. I started this regimine a year ago and it seems to be the magic cocktail to get me through my painful days. The Opana is a controlled release med and the Percocet 10/325 is for breakthrough pain, when needed. I suffer from Winging Scapula and permanent damage to my Thoracic Nerve.

Answer/Reply:
I too have fibromyalgia, degenerative bone disease, rls, etc.
I don't know what it is with doctors not listening to their patients when we say the pain is horrendous, and since we have been on the same dosage for several years (morphine & percoset) it just isn't working as it use to work. Excuse me, addiction? So what, we are stuck with these chronic conditions for the rest of our lives, unless they are able to come up with a "cure".
Have you talked to your doctor and getting a "tens" unit?

Question/Comment:
I have been taking Percocet for over 3 years with no "apparent" side-effects. I have osteo-arthritis in my neck and lower back and have had total knee replacement. I work 12 hrs a day and the percocet, usually one a day, seems to help with the pain. I have tried OTC meds and nothing seems to help. Any thing else that would help??????

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:
There are other prescription pain management medications that do not contain oxycodone and help manage the inflammation of arthritis as well as control pain. You should discuss your concerns about Percocet with your doctor as he or she has your complete medical history and will be able to make the best recommendation.

I have taking Oxycodone 5mg Immediate Release for a herniated disc and fibromyalgia. Percocet did not work for me but the Oxycodone did. It is Percs without the asprin in it. I could still function normally while I was taking it, but always take it while at home the first time to see the effect it has on you. Hope this helps.

I have had C5 vertebra replaced and have titanium in most of my neck. There is much muscle cramping and pain associated with this - neck, upper back & shoulders. I take MS Contin twice a day along with a Percocet or two daily. This works fairly well.
