Question/Comment:

My husband has had a 2 year run with candida after taking so much medication. He found out by shear luck that the toothpaste has caused some of the candida to get worse, so he started using baking soda to brush his teeth. He now feels that he can live with the candida. He
hasn't complained with the burning or filminess on his tongue. He also used the acidopholus pills. Be ware that the candida can spread into the walls and lining of the stomach if not treated. Nystatin mouthwash could be used if you treat the candida when you first notice it.Believe me he has suffered with the Candida after using antibiotics . Now he feels great with his results..Good Luck to All.

Question/Comment:

I'm a 47 year old man with a bad back and many herniations. I get horrible leg cramps and fasciulations especially at night. I was told by ny neurologist it was nerve damage due to 2 herniated disc's I had removed and a couple in my neck- no surgery. It's driving me crazy and keeps me up at night sometimes.
I was wonder if any medications I'm on could also be causing this?

Question/Comment:

I use fluconazole for a terrible toenail fungus. My toenails are yellow and severly deformed. this is the only way to get rid of it; topicals don't work. I have hep C (in regression) so I need to be monitored. I don't feel any side effects after 2 weeks of 300mg a week. I am so tired of people commenting on my feet and offering home remedies. I hope it works! It did once, but I didn't follow through. If women have trouble with thrush or yeast infections you can help your body by eating yoghurt with live acidophillus cultures. They are called pro-biotics and help restore nature's balance. Look it up! Have a good day, everyone.

I have been taking 200 mgs. of fluconazole every other day for approximately 15 years (for persistent vulvovaginitis.) I saw an infectious disease specialist about that time who told me he had tried fluconazole (100 mgs. every day for a year???) for nail fungus as an experiment to see if it would work. His reply, "It doesn't work."

Question/Comment:

Hello, I have started to take Diflucan for 8 weeks to help with Candida issues. Is a 200mg daily for 8 weeks and issue? I worry much about the side effects, but try to over look them for the long term benefits of healing the Candida. Need some help please. Thank you much and I look forward to hearing from you.

Answer/Reply:

Hi - I have chronic candida as well, and Fibromyalgia- my doctor told me I had the highest levels of candida he had seen in twenty years of testing. Diflucan is part of the answer, but fighting this illness is very, very hard. The reason is that while Diflucan can help kill off some of the candida, they are fed by sugar, and just about anything that you eat turns into sugar.

If you take Diflucan alone, you will not get over your candida--it may temporarily go away, but it will come back. It is important to alter your diet (check out the Body Ecology Diet) while you fight the candida. That means for several months, no sugar, no gluten, no dairy. I know that sounds impossible, but I did it, and after 5 days I was a feeling better than I had in years.

Candida infections start in the large intestines and spread all over the body--depending on severity, it can get to your brain. That is why colon hydrotherapy is also an important part of the treatment.

Know that candida is a chronic, not acute infection, so you need to be prepared to wage long term war. If your doctor doesn't have you on a multi-part plan, find another doctor that does. I wish that it was as simple as taking Diflucan for 2 months.

P.S. I originally did a month on Diflucan- I got my levels down, but they are back-- I am now on a four month course in conjunction with other meds to get rid of the candida-biofilm--its like a terrarium-there is a film in your body that creates the perfect environment for yeast reproduction.
