Question/Comment:

I had been taking Lipitor for a year and switched to Crestor. I started getting muscle soreness in my legs, then in my back. It got so severe that I could barely lift my legs. I quit taking Crestor and in three weeks time my pain was completely gone. I recently started taking a half dose(5 mg) with my doctor's knowledge. If pain comes back, I will have to stop again and look at alternatives.

Question/Comment:

After reading the above posts I have decided to quit taking Crestor. I have been on it for a long time, but did not realize until today when visiting my PT after knee surgery that Crestor is probably the reason I have severe calve pain in both legs. It is to the point that I cannot straighten out my legs. I had one knee surg. in Oct. 09 and am scheduled for the other leg Nov. 25. I hope and pray that this pain goes away pretty quickly. I would love to be normal again.

Question/Comment:

Your advisory suggests that Crestor users should separate the taking of this drug from Calcium 600 + D "by many hours." Any suggestion as to how many hours since I take Crestor and Calcium 600 + D together at bed time?

75 year old Male

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:

Calcium has the potential to interfere with many medications. Separating your calcium from your other medications by 2 hours may help to minimize the possible interactions. You may want to adjust your calcium dose to the morning each day and continue to take your Crestor in the evening.

Answer/Reply:

you should not take calcium supplements within 2 hours of taking any medication.

Was taking Crestor 10 mg per day and had pain in legs and hips so bad, that I could barely walk. Switched to Pravastatin 2 months ago and within a week the pain was much less.
