Question/Comment:
I am a 65 Yr. old female.Fit and Active.Non smoker and non drinker.
I have suffered from high blood pressure since 1994 and have been on the full range of pills with horrible side effects--had repeated tests, heart scans,E.C.G's all test results are fine but cannot find the reason for my high B.P.
Only Bendroflumizide worked for about two and a half years until I had type 2 diabetes.Have been on Adizem and Eprosartan for the past three years but my B.P still is averaging 220/117 with fast heartbeat--which most pills speed up even faster.
Any help as my G.P has given up!

Answer/Reply:
Your situation sounds a lot like mine. For almost 20 years, my BP was as high as 225/117 and hardly ever went below 190/110. After many tests, changing my meds several times, changing DOCTORS several times, and landing in the hospital a few times, my present physician nailed it down to my state of mind. I quit my job and started reading inspirational literature. I also began studying nutrition to find out what foods fight BP. I now have a much nicer job and a BP of 130/70. Does this help?

Question/Comment:
I took Diltiazem CD for years with no problem for occassional atrial tachycardia. My insurance company mandated a change to DILTXR to qualify for the lesser co-pay (kickbacks). I took Diltxr from September until last week until my internist determined that it was the culprit behind acute acid reflux and esophogitis. After years on Diltiazem CD with no problems, this other generic has screwed up my esophogus, caused me medical bills and huge costs for PPIs not covered by insurance to heal the erosions. 2 days after getting off the Diktxr I felt better

Question/Comment:
I HAVE BEEN TAKING CARDIZEM(STARTED AT 120MG) 180MG CARDIZEMLA,COMBINED OVER 15 YEARS. I HAVE HAD 3 HEART ATTACKS AND ONE STROKE AND I GIVE CARDIZEM CREDIT FOR HELPING ME THROUGH ALL OF THESE. NOW MY BP. Answer/Reply:
I too preferred Cardizem. When I had to switch to a generic, Dilantzem did not work well at all. My doctor told me some people just don't absorb formulas the same way. I did okay on Tizac, but am using Cartia now. Had chest tightness and some pain when on the Dilantzem that went away after switching to Tizac. But The Cartia seems to work a little better for me. B/P has gone down from 170/90's to 132/80's.
