Question/Comment:

I started taking Captropril June 21 and lost all sense of taste the following month. I am now in my fifth week without any taste. I stopped taking this drug last Tuesday and still have not regained my taste at all. I think this should definitely be added as a "terrible" side effect. I am having to force myself to eat because I can't taste anything and food just about gags me when I have to chew something. This has been a terrible experience. I finally had to go to an ear, nose and throat specialist to find out exactly what was causing this and after tests this was determined that Captropril was the culprit. I have no idea when my taste will return and if it will return fully.

Question/Comment:

Replaced my Atacand with Captopril last two months. Does not control my BP as well as previous med. However, cost factor $241 vs. $21 for 3 months is a great factor. Dr. says will not increase 12.5 dose. Will keep him advised of readings as they are above 120. Botton # is ok.

Question/Comment:

I used Topril for over 5 years to treat slightly elevated blood pressure. Usually I'm given the generic form of the drug and have not experienced any side effects. Both the Topril and the generic seem to be doing a great job in lowing my blood pressure.

iGuard Answer/Reply:

At first , when taking Captopril it lowered my blood pressure too much. Yet, after my body adjusted to the Captopril I found it a
valuable medication to take along with my Coreg & Digi.
