We just heard but have not confirmed that there is a generic for Norvasc now. My husband has been taking Cauet but we're going to check with the pharmacy to see if true. If so, it will be back to a generic for blood pressure & a generic for cholesterol.

It's not because it's a new drug, It's because rx drugs have to stay that way for many years, before they can be sold over the counter..I have also been on it for about 6 years and it works great for me,I don't even need blood work as often as I did..And no pill is going to be a wonder drug without you following some of it's guide lines..Yes I do cheat but only once a week or holidays, etc...You can't eat meat every night and expect results..All I can say is God Bless Pfizer!

I am on Caduet and my doctor gave me a Caduet SAVINGS CARD to take to the pharmacist when I purchase Caduet. With this card, I pay only $20.00 for a month's supply. Perhaps your physician would help you in that way.

I had a cholestrol level of 212, with high blood pressure. After starting on the caduet my cholestrol has dropped to 139. My blood pressure is in normal limits too.

I am using caduet also, but my cholestrol level has not dropped as well as yours....are you also on a special diet plan, cut out certain foods, etc. I have been on caduet and another blood pressure medication for over a year and I still can't get my blood pressure below 130/93. What is your secret? Thanks!

Question/Comment:
I've been on Caduet for many years,I was always on the 10mg for my cholesterol until I changed Dr's,my old Dr. never ran any blood work on me.My new Dr. ran all sorts of test and he uped my cholesterol to 40mg.I've been having lots of swelling in my right ankle and foot, has anyone else had this problem?.I go back for more blood work on Oct.13th to check my cholesterol.I do like having to take only one pill for high blood pressure and cholesterol not to mention saving on my co-pay.

Answer/Reply:
I also had swelling in my ankles when I was on the 40mg cholesterol. My doctor lowered the dose back to 20mg and most of the swelling went away.

Answer/Reply:
I have been on caduet for over a year now and when i expressed my concern about the swelling in my left leg and ankle, neither my vascular surgeon or family M.D., have been able to explain the swelling or even given me a hint that it is or could be a side effect of this medication. I feel a little better knowing something.

Question/Comment:
I like Caduet because it controls blood pressure and cholesterol. My cholesterol was still high so the doctor just changed the lipitor (cholesterol med) to a higher dose and the blood pressure med stayed the same. So easy...
