Question/Comment:
Been on Bystolic for over a year. I take 2.5mg a day.
It has had no side effects, after dropping from 5mg to 2.5mg a day. But the past month I have had diarrea and over the past 3 months I have begun losing hair. I am not sure if side effects like this could happen after being on this drug for over a year. I think it is possible to get side effects later on. I have had a lot of blood work done and stool samples done but nothing is off? I even cut back what I am eating to a lite diet.

Question/Comment:
I'm a 64 yr old male, excellent shape. Very low Cholestrol and Trigs. Have had Labile BP since I was young, mostly white coat syndrome. Dr put me on 50mg of Atenolol a year ago/just switched to 10mg of Bystolic. No side effects & my exercise HR is up to 115-120 now compared to 100 tops with Atenolol. Anyone know what my target HR at peak exercise on treadmill or stairclimber should be? I feel much better on Bystolic and hope to be off completely with in a year. BP 118/60avg. resting HR 46-52

Question/Comment:
I just started Bystolic 2 nghts ago,Tuesday night. Before actually taking the pill my blood pressure obviously high was. High enough the Dr thought that might be causing me a constant headache.
The next morning, Wednesday, my blood pressure shot up to 177/93 Then that night,Wednesday. it was 214/154. No those numbers are not a mis type. That was at 9:30 last night,Wednesday. This morning it was 182/116. Yes, I have a call into the Dr.

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:
Blood pressure medication like Bystolic usually works right away to lower blood pressure. It is concerning that your blood pressure continued to increased after you started taking Bystolic. If you have not talked to your doctor yet, please try to follow up with him or her as soon as possible.

At this time, hot flashes is not listed as a reported side effect in the product labeling for Bystolic. If the symptoms continue or worsen or are affecting your quality of life, please make an appointment to discuss them with your physician and have an evaluation to see what may be causing these hot flashes.

Question/Comment:
I have been taking Bystolic for about 3 months. Before, my heart rate was always very high and now it is low (around 65-75). My BP has leveled out as before it would go high and then low. I didn't know from one day to the next what it was going to be. I am satisfied so far with the symptoms doing okay on Bystolic.
