Question/Comment:
Anyone experience increased anxiety? Anxiety was under control before I started Bystolic about a month ago. Have trouble sleeping, started at 5mg couldn't sleep at all, Dr. reduced to 2.5 and sleep fitfully. BP not helped a lot, yesterday I had a lot of stress and BP went up to 150/93. I felt squeezing pain in the chest and burning sensation in my face. Side effects dry cough (had childhood asthma) and very cold hands/feet/low body temp's. If I ask to change do I need to titrate off 2.5mg?

Question/Comment:
I started taking Bystolic (2.5 mg) over a year ago and had no adverse effects. However, I once missed two doses in a row and the rebound effects were awful. BP went up to 150/110 and my resting heart rate shot up to 128. I also take enalapril (5 mg) and Lescol xl ( I hadn't missed those doses) My BP is generally averaged 130/90 on those doses, so last month my Dr. up the Bystolic to 5mg. My BP now averages 125/88 and heart rate is down from average of 88 to 77. I expected better results.

Question/Comment:
Been on Bystolic for over a year. I take 2.5mg a day.
It has had no side effects, after dropping from 5mg to 2.5mg a day. But the past month I have had diarrea and over the past 3 months I have begun losing hair. I am not sure if side effects like this could happen after being on this drug for over a year. I think it is possible to get side effects later on. I have had a lot of blood work done and stool samples done but nothing is off? I even cut back what I am eating to a lite diet.

Question/Comment:
I'm a 64 yr old male, excellent shape. Very low Cholestrol and Trigs. Have had Labile BP since I was young, mostly white coat syndrome. Dr put me on 50mg of Atenolol a year ago/just switched to 10mg of Bystolic. No side effects & my exercise HR is up to 115-120 now compared to 100 tops with Atenolol. Anyone know what my target HR at peak exercise on treadmill or stairclimber should be? I feel much better on Bystolic and hope to be off completely with in a year. BP 118/60avg. resting HR 46-52

I just started Bystolic 2 nghts ago,Tuesday night. Before actually taking the pill my blood pressure obviously high was. High enough the Dr thought that might be causing me a constant headache.
The next morning, Wednesday, my blood pressure shot up to 177/93 Then that night,Wednesday. it was 214/154. No those numbers are not a mis type. That was at 9:30 last night,Wednesday. This morning it was 182/116. Yes, I have a call into the Dr.

iGuard.org Answer/Reply:
Blood pressure medication like Bystolic usually works right away to lower blood pressure. It is concerning that your blood pressure continued to increased after you started taking Bystolic. If you have not talked to your doctor yet, please try to follow up with him or her as soon as possible.
