I'm on Protonix for at least 8 years. My doctor prescribe for inflamation in my arm Naproxen /only 10 pills / for 5 days. Helps reduce the pain , but I'm not shure that is the right combination with Protonix .

I take Aleve because it seems to be the only OTC drug that helps control the pain of my arthritis in shoulders and lower back pain. Now I see that Aleve can be counter productive with regard to my use of Toprol and Lisinopril for high blood pressure. I cannot afford any more prescription drugs as I am on several, including Lantus. (insulin)
Any suggestions?

The issue with taking a drug like Aleve is that it can cause fluid retention and increase your blood pressure. Oftentimes, if your blood pressure is well controlled, it is not a problem. However, please have a discussion with your doctor and review your use of Aleve with him or her. Your doctor can verify your dose is appropriate and not causing problems with your blood pressure medications.

I have had no problems with Naproxen in the 3+ years that I have taken it. I could not find anything else that would help my arthritis without taking something habit forming. I also take Cymbalta for Fybromialgia for which the choice is very small. I have had no side effects from any of my meds and have been on them for several years now.
