Answer/Reply:

I can't take any type of prescription pain pill, due to the side effects of nausea and dizziness. IBU works well for me, and I have had no serious side effects so far. I can't understand how people can get HOOKED on prescription pain pills!! The pain would be more tolerable for me!!

Answer/Reply:

If you had level 10 pain 24/7 as I have you would look for anything to help and Ibuprofen does not work for everybody

Question/Comment:

I have been on Effexor 75 and Budeprion for five years for depression after a divorce and levothyroxine. I have gained 30 lbs and can't get it off. I don't feel anxious or depressed anymore because I don't feel anything. I still have nightmares about my ex every night. I don't go anywhere. I have no friends and no family where I live. I have no desire to do anything. I get tired in the afternoon and usually fall asleep for a couple of hours. I'm not sure what is worse -- feeling anxious or feeling dead. I have discussed this with my psychiatrist but nothing is being changed. Should I pull myself off one of the medicines? I feel as if my life is passing me by and I've already wasted five years.

Answer/Reply:

It's not a good idea to discontinue antidepressive medications without the help of your doctor. If you've continually discussed this with your psychiatrist and he/she seems to turn a deaf ear, you might want to seek a new doctor or get a second opinion. Second opinions are a patient's right even though your doctor might not like the idea. I know it's difficult to change doctors but sometimes it has to be done. As for the levothyroxine, consult your prescribing doctor. Perhaps a change is in order. In any case, these are problems that only a doctor can really answer.

I know it would sound a little strange, but perhaps try something all natural. Our family
has stumbled onto an acai product called " MonaVie " know many try to over market and
sell the stuff, however from my background and personal testing, I am certain there is something
to it. several others besides myself are having very very good results in added healthy
liptic acid uptake to the brain. my anxiety levels are much much better, energy is dramatially
improved, much testimony from family and friends that have gone and stayed on it.

I can go into more detail for you if needed, our family does not sell the product, just educate
and inform, then you be the judge after a trial of 2-3 months. can absolutly say that it goes
from a curiosity, and novelty to an absolute necessity.

Cheers, hope this can be of some help.

Answer/Reply:

Dear 55, I'm writing this in then hope that it will help you to see that there is more in this life than the depressed state your feeling right now. You see several yeas ago i was in the same position as you, Just Divorced and practicaly having the proverbile RUG pulled out from under me. I too tho being of as they say from the "Better Gender" side went into a deep state of DEPRESSION.
It got so BAD that even the friends i did have didn't want anything to do with me. I had lost a considerable amount of weight, i went from a strapping 240 lbs. to a mere skeleton of 120 lbs. Ifolded up inside of myself and couldn't see a future for myself, other than the DRUG induced state i was in, infact it got so bad that the doctor took away my pill's, so as not to cause me "self inflicted" suicide tendency's. I'm beginning this way so you can understand what my "solution" to my problem finally came to be.
It was about a year or two ago that a YOUNG LADY came back into my life and reminded me that I was NOT an "OLD MAN of 57" but a "YOUNG MAN of 57". You see this young lady is my granddaughter. She reminded me that when she was younger and she used to come to me with her problems (mostly peers), that i would depart on her MY EXPERIENCES at that age, and that i had givin her a solution to her problem's that she carries with her to this day, That being "We are INDIVIDUALS - NOT A -COMBINATION of 2's". Everything we do in our lives is a" MANIFESTATION of 1". Over the years you will accumilate experience's that will lead you on to your next experience, and these are YOUR'S no one else's, and if a time comes that you need help to move on,"REMEMBER" you got this far by your SELF. NOT with anybody else's help. Look back on the RIGHT DECISIONS you made to get you where YOU are NOW. I'm sure when you were younger and SINGLE, you had HIGH asperations for your self. Continue on with those DREAMS and ASPERATIONS, DON'T let ONE set back stop you , "AFTER ALL PAPA , I WOULDN'T BE HERE IF YOU HAD STOPPED"
This young lady has helped me to remember,I can make NEW FRIEND'S and LOOK for better things AND CHOOSE TO DO BETTER, AFTER ALL it's INSIDE of ME all along.
Since then , I have gained weight, made new friends, even got back some of my older friends, but most of GAINED BACK the CONFIDENCE in MYSELF to go on and "REALLY ENJOY MY LIFE" . You see it was her grandmother that i divorced. But inspite of it all we have become GREAT FRIENDS and really enjoy the time we have left on this GREAT EARTH.
I do hope you can find it INSIDE OF YOUR SELF too LIVE and ENJOY a better life after all it's really an "INDIVIDUAL LIFE" we live and that everything else that comes along is just an "ADD ATTRACTION".
Yours in Friendship, 57 year OLD male

You need to see another doctor....Also possibly a psychiatrist. No one should suffer as long as you have. god bless.

Answer/Reply:

I ALSO WAS ONCE ON EFFEXOR AND DID NOT "FEEL ANYTHING". IF YOU HAVE DISCUSSED THIS WITH YOUR PSYCHIATRIST AND HE DID NOT SUGGEST OTHER MEDS, THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD SEE ANOTHER PSYCHIATRIST. THERE ARE MANY OTHER DEPRESSION DRUGS YOU COULD TRY....... YOUR SYMPTOMS (WEIGHT, TIRED....) COULD POSSIBLY MEAN THAT YOUR THYROID MEDICINE NEEDS TO BE INCREASED. HAVE YOU HAD ANY BLOOD WORK DONE FOR THIS? PLEASE SEE YOUR PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN FIRST BEFORE STOPPING ANY MEDICINE........GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS.

48 year old Female

Answer/Reply:

To tell you the truth I have no clue if it's your meds or not. BUT if your doctor is NOT addressing your concerns either get him'/her to do so or find yourself another doctor. Look, life is too short to allow a doctor to mess up your life. I had 3 doctors cause me to have to have a hysterectomy at the ripe old age of 21. Trust me Doctors are NOT Gods and can be wrong. Maybe changing your doctor will change your outlook!

Question/Comment:

I take the liquid gel Advil and it seems to do okay on my stomach. Am I deceiving myself or is this a little easier to get tthrough the digestive system? I don't take it every day, although I must admit, it's tempting to for my headaches and arthritis because I haven't had the problems I had with the prescription strength. Also, I have Hep C. Naproxen hurts my stomach almost immediately! I can't afford accupuncture and those types of treatments. What would you suggest is the least harmful for a GERD, Hep C, Arthrititic, Bipolar, Christian who just keeps praying in the meantime?

I have IBS, Chronic arthritis and stomach problems and I take the liquid gel Advil, but only when needed for headache pain. But I also take OTC Prilosec to coat my stomach first which helps my stomach not to hurt sinceI take Naproxen for my arthritis.

I have been taking Cosamin DS for over 2 years. Recently read about Trigosamine which I ordered last week. During my research it appears to be better than the Cosamin for joint pain. Have you heard anything negative about this pill? Hope it works.

Question/Comment:

I have been diagnoised with some spine degeneration, so what medication other than advil, would be a good medication for pain relief?

74 year old Male

Answer/Reply:

I've been taking a nutritional substance called MSM methylsulfonylmethane. I take 1000mg in the morning.... its great. I feel more energy and it relieves inflammation. You can find it at any drug store or health food store and grocery store. Sometimes they mix it with Chondroitin (which I don't take because I'm vegetarian). Just take before noon as it may affect your sleep...too much energy. It has no adverse affects...according to Dr. Weil.

53 year old Female

Answer/Reply:

They have a vegetarian version of Chondroitin that I think you would find most helpful! You just have to look for it. Not all stores carry it, I know people that are allergic to shrimp / shellfish that get this kind. I am seriously considering using it myself instead of the regular one. Just read the boxes, some say it plainly on the front "Not From Shellfish" others you must read the side panel. I hope this helps people that are vegetarian or that have allergies to shrimp / shellfish as Chondroitin is really good for the joints and inflammation.

Answer/Reply:

The only other thing I could recommend would be Aleve, or a generic brand of naproxen sodium, which like Advil (or ibuprofen), is an NSAID (non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug), which helps with pain as well as helping to reduce inflammation.

Answer/Reply:

I put arnica ontiment on the painful areas and that helps alot.
