Question/Comment:

I have been taking 20 mg. Accolate twice a day for 11 yrs. It is the only drug that helps me. Singulair is a joke. It made my asthma & allergies a whole lot worse. I actually did better with no medication than with it. There has been no problems with Accolate at all! I haven't had any crazy, suicidal dreams or thoughts while taking it. I think the ones that did were already having them & are just looking for something to blame. I'll never believe this wonderful drug that allows me to breathe caused anyone problems at all, much less that kind of problem!

Question/Comment:

I have had COPD for several years. that has gotten worse over the years.
I was put on Accolate in 1993 and it the effect it had almost instantly was amazing. It was like everything had opened up and I could breath so much better. A couple of years later I an allery doctor had me to switch to singular. It worked ok. Recently I asked my lung doctor to put me back on Accolate even though he said Singular was the better of the two. Well the change was dramatic..as different as night and day when I went back to Accolate. My breathing was a lot better, the instant inhaler needed less. I take Accolate 20mg twice a day.
I know all the doctors prefer the singular..maybe it helps some people..but I wonder if they ever used Accolate..

Answer/Reply:

I have been using accolate for more than 10 years. It is the only one that realy works. Every time a new drug comes out my old Dr. would switch me. I switched Drs. When I have to be hospitalized, I demand to use my own accolate since the hosp. pharmacy does not carry it. You have the legal right to provide your own medications when in the hosp. Do not let anyone tell you differently.

Question/Comment:

I have been taking Accolate for about 5 years now. I have not had any side effects either. Before Accolate, I suffered terribly from sinusitius. My sinus' were so sensitive that I could not go outside without my nose covered up untill the weather warmed up and the temp. was over 68*. No other medications would work and I was fast becomming unresponsive to one antibiotic after another. I also tried Singular for a while but it doesn't work as well as the Accolate. I have a life outside the house again.
