What do iGuard Risk Ratings mean?
If you have ever tried learning about safety from the insert provided with your medication, you know how difficult it is to read the fine print. iGuard.org helps you work out which medications you need to watch out for using our risk rating Risk Rating system .
iGuard Risk Ratings are listed in order from lowest to highest risk below. Please note that these ratings DO NOT take into account potential benefits of treatment or the risk of NOT being treated.
Where do these ratings come from?
iGuard employs a team of doctors and pharmacists to generate risk ratings based on a drug's prescribing information. Our patent-pending, risk rating process involves three steps:
- Our pharmacists use prescribing information and clinical trial results to identify information on serious side effects.
- Our physicians assign a Risk Rating based on the likelihood and severity of these side effects.
- The final risk ratings Risk Ratings also take into consideration how many patients have used the drug, and how long it has been around for.
