Question/Comment:
I've been taking Zolft(generic brand) for about a year now and I have noticed that I sweat/get very warm and was wondering if the Zoloft was the reason. I am 32, so I'm pretty sure it's not menopause. I'm wondering if this is a side effect of Zoloft or if anyone else has experienced this from taking Zoloft. I don't really want to switch depression meds because it seems to work wonders, I have been on wellburin and a few others that didn't seem to be working. If anyone knows anything about this, please respond. :-)

I dunno. I notice that a lot too, but it's always when I'm nervous or otherwise emotionally excitable. I'm fifteen... so I doubt it'd be anything like menopause for me, too! Last time was today, actually. I just got nervous about some things I was saying... At least it's not too bad.

Ia m very tired very very dizzy tingeling and numbing feeling all over. i wasn't sure if it was from the zoloft or not and I was so scared I went to the ER and they did blood work EKG and all kinds of test and could not find anything wrong, so I am asuming that, that is what its from. now I am debating wether to go back on it or not so I will stop feeling like this. If anyone has any answers please feel free I need all the help I can get. Thank you.

Answer/Reply:
Did you tell your Dr. you were stopping the medicine? Did you tell the ER Dr. that you were trying to ween yourself from the Zoloft?
There is a way to stop taking it. I have been taking Zoloft off and on for many years. I have never had any side effects. When you stop taking it you have to start taking 1/2 a day for a week, then 1/2 every other day for 2 weeks, then 3 times a week for 2 weeks so your system can get used to the medicine being gone. If you feel that bad and you think it is because of the Zoloft, you really should talk to your Dr. The medicine might be conflicting with another medicine. If you have completely stopped taking the medicine and you are still feeling like that then I doubt it is the meds.
Hope this helps some.

I did tell my doc that I was weenig myself off of it, but he still did not think that it was from the zoloft. I did stop completly. It had been about 3 or 4 days since I had one and I decided to go ahead and take another one because I could not stand to feel that way any longer, I was willing to try anything and a couple of hours later all my symptons went away, so I took another the next day, and still no symptons, so I am guessing that it was from stopping the zoloft. I went to the doc and he ask me why I went back on it if it wasnt working, and prescrbed me Lexapro I dont know you or anyone eles but that stuff is awful, the side effects dry mouth I am so tired all the time I feel like crap all the time. I am thinking about going back to zoloft I mean It did help some and no bad side effects as long as I was taking right except for some weight gain, i just want to feel good again. Response please.

Although occurring infrequently, changes in menstrual cycle/menstrual disorder is listed under the side effects section of the product labeling for both Zoloft and Neurontin. If the change in your menstrual cycle is concerning you, you should discuss it with your doctor.

Zoloft really helps me stay calm. I can tell when I forget to take my medication. It helps me cope with menopausal mood swings.

Question/Comment:
I have a question concerning Zoloft creating a false positive for Benzodiazepines in a urine analysis test. I have not taken any medication that has Benzo's in it. I have heard that there's something with the chemicals and the Zoloft that will cause a false positive.

Answer/Reply from iGuard:
Yes, there are some urinalysis tests that can produce a false positive for benzodiazepines in people who are taking Zoloft. There are many manufacturers of urine drug screening tests and each of these manufacturers provide documentation about the accuracy of their tests and which medications have shown to produce false positives. Laboratories who conduct urine drug screenings are aware of these issues and review the documentation on a regular basis. If you are concerned about your prescription medication affecting your urinalysis, you can talk to the lab technician about your concern and ask for more information about the screening test they use.
Keep in mind that drug screening tests are for screening only. Since a urine drug screening does have a small chance of producing a false positive, more accurate follow-up tests are usually performed in people that have a positive screening test. The follow-up test is less likely to produce a false positive compared to the screening test.

I was terminated from a drug rehab program after 5 months of sobriety because my random drug test came out positive for benzos. After taking a 12 panel home kit the result was negative for everything, I also took a specific test for benzos at a Lab and it came out positive as well.
Their test was also positive for benzos at the time of intake ( mine negative)
Be careful with Zoloft !!!!!!

Thank you for your information.
I just got expelled from a rehab treatment center for testing positive for benzos and I could not figure out how that happened since I know I am clean, but I am taking 50mg of Zoloft/day.
I took an independent test and it was negative, nevertheless leadership does not believe me.
Same scenario happened at the time of intake, their test was positive and my home test as well as the one done at the lab were negative, again for benzos.
Being that my drug of choice is Valium, I don't blame them.
Be careful with Zolof!!!!!
