Question/Comment:
I am currently taking Restoril 15mg. 1 per night. It does take me awhile to fall asleep so I am going to try taking it earlier. I have Fibromyalgia and once I do fall asleep, I get 6-8 hrs. of sleep. I am also going to try Ambien and see if it helps any better w/falling asleep faster.

Question/Comment:
I have been taking it for a little over a month now, just 15mg, and it does seem to work. I still have a little trouble falling asleep and sometimes have very vivid dreams, but nothing really bad. I feel better in the mornings. When I don't take it I can tell I difference in the quality of sleep I get as I wake up tired and grumpy. I am thinking about asking my doctor if I could take a slightly higher dose and if it's safe to take every night. Right now it's "as needed" and I get 20 pills a month.

Answer/Reply:
I was prescribed Temazapam for insomnia and anxiety, 30 mg at night, and it has worked like a charm for over a year. Since I work, I needed a full night's sleep every night and now I get it. Since it does interact with alcohol, I pretty much avoid drinking and my sleep is also much better. With alcohol I had very vivid dreams that were unsettling. Now I have few such dreams.

Question/Comment:
Before being prescribed Temazepam I was awake most of the night. My foot was constantly shaking. I have been taking it for about a month now and can sleep through the night and feel rested. It has no side effects for me. I do not feel hungover but instead well rested.
It takes about 15-30 minutes to work on me. So its very fast acting.

Question/Comment:
I have been on Temazepam for a while now. For me I take it about 1-2 hours before I want to go to bed. Usually about 9pm. It takes about 1-2 hours for it to kick in. I wish I could go back on ambien or ambien cr, but the ins. co will not allow me on it very long. (like who died and made them my dr). I do not sleep at all if I don't take anything for sleep. There are time when I feel druggie in the mornings, and times when I don't, but at lest it works for me.

I find the most effective way in taking Restorial is to wait until I am beginning to become a bit sleepy to the point of feeling over tired or it is becoming somewhat late (in the wee hours). Speaking for myself, it will work within approximatey 30 minutes. Perhaps taking it at 9:00 (even though you'd like to go to sleep that early) is too soon for you - e.g. - your body is simply not ready to sleep yet particularly in light of your insomnia. I would guess that if it is not effective within the first hour, it is probably not working well, if at all, in the first place. The dose may be insufficient or your physician may want to try a different med. Just my .02

Question/Comment:
Have been using this sleep aid for 2 years and do get at least 6 hours of sleep almost every night. It does leave me groggy in the morning but a couple of cups of coffee clears that up. Works better than not having anything as I couldn't sleep over 3 hours before although I did that twice a day.
