Drug Comments for Rhinocort (Budesonide)

Comments, Questions, and Answers Show Newest | Oldest First

Question/Comment:

You all are talking about a whole different medication here. Rhinocort is not anything like Pulmicort. Pulmicort is a fine mist powder that you inhale through you mouth and it goes into Your lungs and it is steriod based. Rhinocort is a complete different medication used for a completey different medical condition.
This was suppose to be a discussion forum for PULMICORT, not RHINOCORT... LOL!

Answer/Reply from iGuard:

Rhinocort and Pulmicort both have the same active ingredient, Budesonide.

Question/Comment:

I've used Rhinocort for probably 5 yrs. It's probably the gentlist one I've used.

I was addicted to Vicks Nasal Spray. Every two hours when I was stuffed with the the 4 hr spray. It took me a while to get off of that...and I started with Vasenase (which was such a neat one... it was a power and it stayed up in your nose... no drips).

Mostly because of the Vicks spray, I ended up with a nasal perforation (about the size of my pinky's fingertip). Besides this... I didn't know to spray to the "outside" of my nose, because no one told me. The best way to do this is for the right side, hold in the left hand... and visa versa.

I had an operation to put in a nasal (septum) button. I had to skip using my Rhinocort for a couple days, but have had no problems using it once I got back on it.

Keep using this drug... it has to build up and is not immediate. When I was addicted to the Vicks spray, think I used both for a week before I realized I was stretching out the Vicks spray to the normal limits... then not needing it.... but the process took a couple weeks.

Another suggestion. It's two sprays a day... usually written two sprays 1 a day... Try taking 1 spray in the morning and 1 at night if you find out it's not lasting all 24 hrs. I do this in the spring... other times, just take 1 spray a day.

Question/Comment:

Don't hesitate to try it. Because it goes in my nose, where the problem is, it works fast! Unlike other medications that you take every day, whether you need it or not, I can wait til the first sign of a symptom to take it. So I only take medicine on the days I NEED medicine!
