Question/Comment:
I have been taking provigil for about 2 months now due to severe sleepiness during the day because of sleep apnea. I could not function without it, I take 200mg and I finally feel like
myself again. I can take care of my family instead of coming home from work exhausted and
falling asleep. I was told that headaches were a side effect but I have them anyway due to the
sleep apnea according to my doctor so that really wasn't a problem for me. I also take Cymbalta for depression which I notice some say that they were able to come off the other
meds when taking provigil. I would love to do that, provigil has given me back my life so it
would be great to stay on it and get off the other ones.

Question/Comment:
I recently started taking 100 mgs a day to address MS fatigue. I started approxiately 3 weeks ago and at first it did help with fatigue, but I began to experience very severe depression, brain fog, and insomnia. To be sure, I had some level of cognitive dysfunction (enough to make me leave the work force), depression, and a disruptive sleep pattern - severe fatigue during daytime but frequent nighttime awakening BEFORE beginning this med. I discontinued for two days but decided to try again, and have been back on it for the last three days - the first two days I did increase it to 200 mgs - and felt great, had more energy, more clarity of thought, and no depression. Today I only took 100 mgs because I am still experiencing insomnia - was up until 2 am. The good part is, once asleep - I slept until 10am. I am going to give it a chance - while at the same time check in with my Doc about my experience with the drug, as well as closely monitor the cognitive and depression issues. Good luck with this med to anyone experiencing disabling fatigue and sleepiness - and let's all hope for the best . . . God knows we need something to work without too many added problematic side effcts!!!

Question/Comment:
I've been on 200mg/day for a few weeks after 100mg did nothing for ADHD. Provigil seems less effective than other stimulants for attention and avoiding distraction, but it does help a bit, say 6/10 if the usual stimulants are 8/10. However I have noticed some moderate reading comprehension gains when using reference materials at work that I've already read but understood new parts of lately. In comparison other stimulants have been way more of a wild ride of attention with an accompanying zombie-like feeling that in itself is a bit distracting to me and ultimately not useful.
The main noticeable side effect seems to be loss of appetite. It might also be causing lingering mild headaches. Keeping an eye on your food intake is probably a good idea because I have a typically unflappable appetite. Other than that I'm continuing to see if it can be useful.

Question/Comment:
I take 400 mg. of provigil every morning and it has worked wonders. I was falling asleep almost daily while stopped at red lights and fighting to stay awake during the entire commute. Now I feel alert and oriented in the morning. I take it about an hour before I leave.

Question/Comment:
I am a mother whose 17 yr old daughter is taking provigal for Narcolepsy. She is on other medications for OCD, anxiety and depression. She was taking 200 mg but it didn't seem to work, they raised her to 400 mg. It worked for about a week then didn't work as well. She also starting have bad mood swings. Has anyone experienced this before. The Dr. has lowered her provigal to 300 mg (100 mg when she wakes up & 200mg at 10 am) it is still not working and she has to go half days to school right now. Her next appt. with her Dr. is this Wed. so I'll see what she says. . Her Dr. has also suggested a combo of Provigal and Ritalin. FYI - she is very sensitive to meds and we have to watch her very carfully with any new med she is on for side effects. so Just wondering if anyone notices mood swings
