Question/Comment:

I started to take Pravachol in November. After 3 weeks, I had a dizzy spell, and felt really awful. Thought I was having a panic attack. Went to dr. and we decided it was anxiety. Am being treated for that now, but feel pressure in chest still. I finally went on line to check for side effects and have found some mention of increased anxiety with statins, Pravachol. I am only on 20 mg a day.........but wonder if I shouldn't decrease dose. Am checking with dr. today. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Question/Comment:

I started this medication (dose 40mg) and within two and a half weeks started experiencing extreme leg cramps to the point of not being able to stand or walk. I stopped taking it and the leg cramps and pain stopped within a day or two of stopping the medication.

Question/Comment:

I have just started taking this medication for high cholestrol and of course will have to wait to see if it is effective. But I have a couple of questions that someone out there may be able to answer. I was wondering how many find this medication has siginificatly reduced their cholestorl without a lot of control of their diet. I know you are supposed to watch you fat intake as well as take the medication, but I wonder how much of it is watching the diet and how much of it is the medication. Also, my doctor perscribed that it be taken "at bedtime". Why at bedtime? Is there a specific reason the medication be taken at bedtime? Does it work better while you are at rest?

Answer/Reply:

Your body makes cholestrol while you sleep, so Drs usually tell you to take it in the pm at bedtime.

Answer/Reply:

I have been using pravacol for some years now and my cholesterol ratings are GREAT as are the triglicerides I.have experienced NO negative effects. Before using this medication, for several years, I was on a very strictly controlled diet. Now, I eat anything I wish and it doesnt affect my levels at all. My blood is checked every 3 months. I am VERY pleased with this medication.
