Drug Comments for Lodine (Etodolac)

Question/Comment:

I just started taking Lodine XL (etodolac), short-term, for pain from bursitis in my shoulder. Wonder of wonders! it took care of my carpal tunnel pain, too! I've been just dealing with the carpal pain in my wrists for the past couple of years after my second carpal tunnel surgery. I wish they had given me Lodine XL before this! I don't have stomach problems - maybe because I eat a full meal before I take it?? My only concerns are for using it long-term. I have diabetes, which affects your kidneys, heart and liver if not taken care of properly. My concern is for increasing any effects on my liver/kidneys if I should use it long-term. However, I am still going to speak to my doctor about a short-term prescription for when my carpal tunnel flares up. It's the only thing that has doused my pain without making me sleepy or loopy.

Question/Comment:

I have been taking Lodine XL for many years now, to treat my osteoarthritis. My ex-husband suggested it after they gave it to him for facial pain (trigeminal neuralgia). It has been a godsend! My joints used to hurt so much every day and it affected my ability to bowl, which is my passion. My knees especially were helped because I have more mobility. I have not experienced any major side effects that were mentioned (GERDS, stomach ulcers, kidney problems) so far. I hope I won't have to stop taking it because when I forget to take it for a day or so, I really feel the difference and I like how I am able to do everything still. This is just my personal experience with this medication.
