Question/Comment:
I have been taking lisinopril 2.5 mg for 3 mos now. I did have a slight dry cough before taking this medication, and I still do but not bad or often. It could be allergies. I have had no other side effect from it, and it seems to be doing the job. Will be seeing my Cardiologist in Nov. and be curious as to why he prescribed this to me as my blood pressure was fine. It certainly has gotten rid of my palpitations and those darn extra beats that can literally wake you up from a sleep.
I am happy with it so far, and yes it is a little sedating, so be careful with driving.

Question/Comment:
I have been taking Lisinopril for approx. 4 years now. I only had "borderline" h.b.p. (usually 140/82) or so, but still my doctor placed me on that because in the past I had tried other medications such as Vasotec, Tenormin, Elapril and Procardia and my bp was very unstable. I always felt sick. During the first three years of starting to take Lisinopril I felt great, but as of late I have noticed my bp fluctuates, from 155/96 to 130/82 in a matter of 10 minutes.
Why is that fluctuation happening? This is occuring, as I said in the last few months. When it goes past 140/82 or so I feel terrible, lightheaded, headachy and sick to my stomach. Then it goes down in a matter of minutes and I feel "normal"..... Doctor cannot explain. I don't really want to change meds because you never know what side effects you are gonna get. HELP...... suggestions?

Question/Comment:
Lisinopril seems to make me very lethargic -- even while I'm taking Adderall! My blood pressure was 112-60, but the MD refused to change my 20m to 10. Why?

Answer/Reply from iGuard:
A few iGuard members (less than 1%) have reported grogginess or fatigue while taking lisinopril. It's worth another chat with your doctor if your lethargy still concerns you - he/she should be able explain why he/she continues to prescribed the higher dose and you may also want to ask if there are other treatment options for your condition.

I am an 84 year old COPD female patient with Emphysema. Have been taking zestril for 2 years. My blood pressure got too low and I was very dizzy. I stopped the medication this week. Was told it was for anxiety.

Question/Comment:
I have been on 5mg Lisinopril daily for 9 years following post partum cardiomyopathy, which has long resolved. The low dose lisinopril, as it was explained to me, is to keep blood pressure lower as not to strain the heart ( I was on digoxin as well for 3 years, off for 6). Lately I have been having daily headaches and dizziness. I've had full workup with MRI that was all normal. No one has mentioned it could be the lisinopril. Could I be reacting to it after being on it so long?
