Your post is filled with wisdom. Nothing can replace a healthy lifestyle. Of course, if everyone did what you are doing, a 50 billion dollar statin industry would go broke.

Question/Comment:

My husband has been on Lipitor for 4 years. He has just been diagnosed with early Parkinsons, but has no tremors. Could the drs. be making a mistake blaming Parkinsons for his foggy mental state, weak muscles in arms and legs, and lethargic demeanor?

Answer/Reply:

Yes. Many people in your husband's situation stop the lipitor and their "parkinson's" improves or goes away. The human brain relies on about 20% of the body's cholesterol to for proper cognitive function, hence the "foggy mental state" when cholesterol deprivation occurs. The "weak arms and legs" is the most common complaint among Lipitor users, followed by "brain fog." I think you will get your husband back to his old self again. Best wishes.

Question/Comment:

I have been taking 10 mg of Lipitor per day for about 9 mos and believed I had no side effects from the drug. In fact, I had a significant reduction in my cholesterol readings and have been satisfied with my results. I have recently started having aching muscles in my legs and both shoulders plus stiffness in my knee and ankle joints and just realized that the spasms and severe cramping I have experienced in my neck since about 3 weeks from my heart attack and beginning lipitor for high cholesterol might be related to a lipitor side effect. I was taking cyclobenzaprine and going to a chiropractor every other day to relieve the neck and upper shoulder pain. Interestingly enough, the chiropractor helped but couldn't get rid of the pain completely. Could this pain/muscle spasm be a result of the drug? My cholesterol readings are good 117 total, 58 HDL, 37 LDL. Would it be smart to go off the drug for awhile?

Question/Comment:

I'M MALE 65 WITH DIABETES, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND HIGH COLESTROL. MY COLESTROL TEST FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS HAS BEEN AROUND 60. AFTER 25 YEARS FO TAKING LIPITOR I'M FINALLY STARTING TO GET THE LEG PAIN EVERYONE TALKS ABOUT. DO I REALLY NEED TO BE ON THE PILL.

Answer/Reply:

Did you mean to say your cholesterol is around 160. I take it as a typo when you said "60" cause i'm not sure if a cholesterol level of 60 would support human life. At least not for very long. Do you need to be on the lipitor you ask. Well, so far between your copays and insurance, if any, Pfizer has recieved over $20,000 from you. THEY would like for you to continue, but Its really your decision.
