Answer/Reply:

I've been taking Trazodone for several years for depression and insomnia. It works fine, but it does cause weight gain. I'm dealing with that side affect currently. Also its hard to get the dosage just right. Too much and I'm tired all of the time, not enough and I'm waking during the night. However, no matter how much I take and I take it daily, without it I simply cannot sleep. Also it does appear to work well for my main problem, depression, no matter what the dosage. So the benefit of that out weighs all else. Good Luck.

Answer/Reply:

I have skipped my dose of 100mg several days in a row (not on purpose) and I have not had any significant side-effects that I know of. The only thing is when I skip my dose I wake up earlier. For example if I go to bed at 10pm I wake up anyware from 3:30am to 4am without my dose of Trazadone. With my dose I am able to sleep until 7am.

Answer/Reply:

I take 25mg of Trazadone at bedtime, Gets me through the night. I also take several high blood pressure meds in the morning that can negatively interact w/the trazadone which is why I lowered my intake from 50mg to 25mg to minmize any side effects. Hope this helps.

Answer/Reply:

Hi
I have been using trazodone for years now. There has been times when i haven't taken it and nothing really happens to me. At the most i will wake up in the early morning hours with out falling back to sleep. Or it will take a long time to fall a sleep and still wake up to early . As for any unconforable withdrawls I have never had any . I am a person who is very sensitive to side affects to medication too. So if you miss a few doses dont worry most likely nothing will happen accept lack of sleep .

I use to take 200 mg. seroquel in the day and 200 mg. at night and all I did was sleep all day. Well I found out that if I take them all at night I get up and take care of all my business in the day and no one believes that I have this mental illness, Because I function just as a normal human being.

Question/Comment:

Is hair loss a side effect of Trazadone. I also take paxil . I don't know if the combination is causing it. I had open-heart surgery and started these 2 medications afterwards, this is when I noticed hair loss.

Answer/Reply:

What heart meds are you on? That could be the problem. I have been looking for something for my depression. How does the Trazadone work for you? I haven't had any good results with anything. Cann't stand the side affects.

Question/Comment:

I take 100 mg of Trazodone at night along with 200 mg of Seroquel , my Atenolol 50 mg and Buspar 10 mg at bedtime. If I run out of Trazodone and Seroquel then I don't sleep for days until my refill comes in. Then I am totally more depressed and I am crying all the time til I get my medication back in me. Sometimes where I get my medicine from goofs up on the refills alot and it takes a month or more to get it straighten back out and then I am a basket case. Then my Therapist is ready send me to the hospital for a few days to get me straightened out on my meds and get me feeling back to normal again cuz then I am thinking suicidal thoughts, So I know what you all are going thru when you run out of meds. Sometimes I take them and I am so groggy the next morning don't feel like doing nothing but sleep all day and there are days it is the opposite I get up but don't have energy to do nothing anyway.

There are nights I take my meds and it will kick in about a half hour and I will go off to sleep and then there are nights it won't do diddly and I am up all night and it lasts for 2 or 3 days like that and then I am exausted from no sleep and make up for it when I do get to sleep.

Answer/Reply:

I take mine about 9 pm with all the other meds and with in a half or so I feel groggy and can't keep my eyes open. Some people works different so you just half to test yourself out on times. I hope that helps

Answer/Reply:

I take trazodone for insomnia (only 25 mg or I get too lightheaded the next day) and I have to take it about 2 hours before I go to bed. Everyone's body chemistry is different so I guess it's just trial and error. But it's been the only medicine to ever help me sleep (am still tired all the time though) but bad sleep is better than no sleep, so I'll take what I can get.

Answer/Reply:

I would advise not to take Valium with Trazadone. They both have a seditive effect and taking both together would put you out for a long time. Like 10 to 14 hours maybe even longer, and you would still be sleepy when you awoke.

Answer/Reply:

i have to take a combination of either 200mg trazadone or 100mg trazadone with a 3mg lunesta along with 2mg xanax and all of my other meds that can cause sedation, my doctors who by the prescribed me all this is surprised im able to function at all. But then again i have a high tolerence for drugs. I take all my meds at about 10pm and within 20 minutes im out but i still wake up every morning at 8am. then again i have 3 human alarm clocks to help wake me up!
