Question/Comment:

Lipitor: I began having severe short term memoroy impairment . Went through neuropsych testing and ruled out alzheimners. After hearing this from several people I spoke with my cardiologist ane he said he had had several reports of this lately. Why is this not listed under warnings in the PDR. BLACK BOX......severe impact on elderly users.

Question/Comment:

Ever since I started taking Coreg (now taking the generic form), my fasting glucose level has been going up. Before that my rates were quite normal. I've read that Coreg can have that effect. So what do I do now? (Due to having heart disease, doctors want me to take metformin to keep from developing diabetes. I get serious stomach pain from metformin - so I do not take it.)

Question/Comment:

My cardiologist put me on metaprolol 40 mg following my heart attack in June of 2000. As a farmer, I found that the Rx was causing me to feel tired all the time, and to have dizzy spells whenever I would exert myself.

After 7 yrs of complaining about these problems, my cardiologist decided to switch me to Coreg 100 mg instead of the metaprolol.

As a child, I had asthma, but my last asthma attack was when I was 13 yrs old (I'm 61 now), so I assumed I had outgrown it. I have now been on Coreg for 1 yr, and I find that when I exert myself, I get short of breath with expiratory wheezing.

I noticed that one of the side-effects of Coreg use can be an increase in asthma attacks. Could this recent onset of asthma after almost 50 yrs of asthma-free living be associated with the Coreg?

Question/Comment:

My fiance was placed on Coreg appx 4 years ago due to CHF from drug abuse - which was stopped! He has had multiple X Rays and Echocardiograms since with no further signs or symptoms of any further CHF.
His physician that he follows now stated that if the initial physician had not placed him on Coreg, that he would be able to manage without it, but now he cannot ever be taken off Coreg.
Can you tell me why, and what would be the side effects if he were to go off this medication. He is also taking Lisinopril and lasix.

Question/Comment:

The Doctor put me on Coreg Cr for Heart Failure. Took it for 1 1/2 yrs. Had a defibulator put in last Feb. I was up to 20mg per day. I am real sensitive to meds. Kept telling them I couldn't take it. It was like, when I had to drive are go somewhere...it would rush through my body to fast. and caused me to not be able to drive or go places. Another doctor took me off and put me on toporol xl. Been on that for about a month. As soon as I got of the Coreg cr, I could feel the differences. Like getting myself back.
