Drug Comments for Claritin-D (Loratadine with Pseudoephedrine)

Comments, Questions, and Answers

Question/Comment:

I was diagnosed in 1987 with Allergies by my then current physician. He also specialized in allergies. When first diagnosed, they were so bad that I had to take allergy shots for 2 to 3 years. I never had allergies in my life until then, a result of receiving someone else's blood after surgery to remove a stomach ulcer after more than a year of treating with medication which did not work. My doctor told me I would be on allergy medicine for the rest of my life. The doctor I now have (a different one due to moving to another state) has been trying to get my to go off the medication. I have tried but every time I do, I get physically ill. I get nauseated, light-headed, have no energy & just feel rotten & have to go back on the medication. I even tried switching to just Claritin instead of Claritin-D. That did not work either. I have gotten to where I can take Claritin every 3 or 4 days & Claritin-D the rest of the time but that's the best I can do & even then I don't feel my best, no energy & a lot of sneezing. I usually take the store brand instead as it is cheaper & works just as good. If I take it with the D, I feel pretty good for my age.
