Question/Comment:
The doctor that prescribed me the advair is one of the founding fathers. I am glad to know about potassium levels and HCTZ. I am on the highest dose of Advair 500/50. It has helped, but I am tired of all this asthma medication. He is going to start me on Xolair. Which he also happens to be a part of that development.

Question/Comment:
Hello All,
I'm 46 & have been on Advair for a year and a half now. Yes It helps me breathe. I have moderately late stage Emphasema, Asthma and a bad back with recent (1 yr) back surgery. But I'd like to talk about weight gain on Advair. As I said I'm 46 But I have put on 30 some lbs in the year and a half since starting Advair. From my lifetime norm of 130 to 168. It started the first month with 8 lbs. It was the only change and now I cant get rid of it. Worse I dont seem to be stopping. Is this normal? And why? The Dr wont change it. He say's I "just need to adjust to a new self image, your sick.
WT....? & I Dont Want To Adjust! NOT to an xtra 30 some lbs. I doubt at this age and with my health I ever will. Nothing fits me now. And It certainly isnt good for me, or my back, and lungs, It can't be! :-( It's just messing with everything. Any one else dealing with this? I mean I'm ready to stop taking any of it and just let the illness progress. Its depressing. I dont want to end up being just a bed blob. :-( Help I need advice?
Please and Thank You

Question/Comment:
to the 33 yr old female (12-22-08). What works for some does not always work for others. Advair was used by me because the other drugs were not helping me breathe. I"d rather breath and drop dead of a heart attack then not breathe and drop dead cause of it lol

Question/Comment:
Use Advair 250/50, tried going back to 100 but had to return to larger dose. Tried Asmacort for two months given by pulmanologist. Went from using albuterol 2/3 times a month to 3/4 times a day and returned to Advair. Have also tried other asthma medications over the last 65 years and this is the best. Do have to take Nexium for acid reflux but may have needed that anyway because of hiatal hernia.

Question/Comment:
Advair is certainly not right for everyone. However, I've been on it since it came out and this was a heaven-send for me. A few years ago I was actually able to get off of it and keep my asthma controlled with regular exercise and eating right. After a location change across the country, I was put back on it and it has continued to control my asthma with only one dosage a day! My hope is to be off it soon again, but it has worked wonders for me!
