Question/Comment:

How can the symptoms of one illness be judged to be something else? I have some symptoms of a variety of illnesses ranging form osteo arthritis to neuropathy, but not excluding menopause. All this stuff is starting to run together. I know this, I have begun to rid my body of parasites which causes many illnesses. Our medical society won't tell us about that.

Question/Comment:

I have been diagnosed w/ Post Herpatic Neuralgia, Polymyalgia Rheumatica, Osteo Arth, and now Neuropathy, both Motor and Sensory. To say I have pain is an understatement. I have PAIN. Meds have been tried, and tried, some worsening the pain some doing nothing. I am 86 years old and have lived with pain for 20 some years. I have a Medtronic Stimulator implanted in my spine to help control the damage to the Sciatic Nerve from Shingles several years ago. It does help that. The Neuropathy is now in my face left side, My hands, my feet and legs. It seems to get worse each day. I get so cold I feel frostbitten in the house. Pain comes in waves of every kind there is, burning, stabbing, numbing, tingling, itching. Sometimes feels as though my feet are in a vise that keeps tightening. My mouth feels frozen making speech difficult for me. Have an appointment with a new Neurologist but can't see her until Jan. In the meantime I feel the numbness and coldness spreading. But I won't give up yet. Heat helps the
coldness and I have a Hot tub that gets a real workout.

Question/Comment:

I was initially diagnosed with severe sciatica. I was prescribed Gabapentin and Vicoprofen.
Since I began this regimen my blood pressure has gone through the roof. Is there a possibility
the drugs are the culprits. My bp was in the high normal range before and is not off the charts.
Dr. now has me on 20 mg Lisinopril 2x a day.
I don't want to take more drugs from symptoms brought on by the new drugs! Help!

Question/Comment:

I have been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy and am taking Lyrica & Cymbalta. Has anyone ever had this diagnosis and not experience pain? My ordeal started 2 years ago when my neurologist changed my medication from Depakote to Topamax for a seizure disorder and the side effect was jittery feet. The result of changing meds again from Topamax to Trileptal put me in the hospital with really messed up electrolytes, which was resolved. At the present time, I'm on Keppra for seizure control but the jittery feeling (like consuming WAY too much coffee) has intruded my entire body. But, I would not consider it pain - only a monotonous 24/7 internal shaking (jitters). Can anyone shed some light on a painless neuropathy? I'm looking forward to any responses! =)

Answer/Reply:

I also have been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy. I don't have the "jitters" though. I have constant tingling/stinging/burning in my feet and just starting in my fingers. It feels as if my feet are buried in a fire ant hill. My Neurologist recently put me on Lyrica. So far, all it does is make me sleepy. My particular peripheral neuropathy (there are thousands) is hereditary. I can remember my mother saying the same things about her feet. I have never heard of a peripheral neuropathy being painless. Maybe its worth getting a second opinion.

Answer/Reply:

I will pray for your family. I can't believe you haven't recieved ss disability! I recieved mine just on depression alone. I also have fibromyalgia and peripheral neuropathy. Man, do I hurt all the time!!!! I finally got on a pain patch and its helped a lot along with lyrica and cymbalta. I can also recomend the sleep number bed, it has really helped with my back and rib pain in the mornings. You should try to get a scooter I have one and its great. Your son still has limitless potential, I was just like him (except for the Toretts syndrome) and with the help of medication became a collage grad. It was bumpy and sometimes painfull along the way but I made it and so can he. A loving and supportive mom helps a lot too.

Answer/Reply:

I have some pain in my back & neck, some osteoarthritis and was told I have degenerative disc disease and some scoliosis in my back. I have tried physical therapy, deep tissue massage, chiropractor, injections, medications. I am a 40 yo, mother of two with a fulltime job. Reading about all that you have endeared in your life is a great deal more than I have and just want you to know that I will pray for you. When one thinks life can be rough or tough, there are people out there that are experiencing alot more than I. I continue to count my blessings daily and may God Bless you today and always.
